Summary: This is an evangelistic message preached at a Christmas outreach event THE HEAVENLY JOY. The coming of Jesus solved man’s greatest need - to know the way, the truth and receive life.

We all have needs. When someone helps us solve that need, we are happy.

• When you are hungry and someone gave you food, or when you fall and someone lift you up. We all had that experience. When the need is great, the joy is greater.

• None of us is a superman. We all need help at some point in time.

When we are a child, we need our parents. When we grow older, we need our teacher. When we are adults, we need friends. When we are old, we need our children’s help.

But there is one great need that all of us must know – our need for God.

• It is man’s greatest need – we need to know God’s love and His will for our life.

• Without Him, life will be empty and unfulfilled.

And God came, at Christmas, to help us.

• Christmas is a happy time because God came to help us.

• Jesus comes to save us from our sin & give us eternal life.

• Luke 2:10-11 The angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord."

At Christmas Jesus came and solve 3 of man’s great problems.

• He shows us THE WAY, teach us THE TRUTH and give us THE LIFE we need.

• Jesus says, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6)

Because HE CAME, we know THE WAY home to be with God.

• Previously we were like lost sheep, not knowing life’s direction, where are we going.

• I do not know if you’ve ever gotten lost before. You’re worried and anxious. You feel totally helpless, unless you see a sign or meet someone who can help you.

Albert Einstein, the great physicist, was once travelling from Princeton on a train when the conductor came down the aisle, punching the tickets of each passenger.

When he came to Einstein, Einstein reached in his vest pocket. He couldn’t find his ticket, so he reached in his other pocket. It wasn’t there, so he looked in his briefcase but couldn’t find it.

The conductor said, "Dr. Einstein, I know who you are. We all know who you are. I’m sure you bought a ticket. Don’t worry about it." Einstein nodded appreciatively.

The conductor continued down the aisle punching tickets. As he was ready to move to the next car, he turned around and saw the great physicist down on his hands and knees looking under his seat for his ticket.

The conductor rushed back and said, "Dr. Einstein, Dr. Einstein, don’t worry. I know who you are. No problem. You don’t need a ticket. I’m sure you bought one."

Einstein looked at him and said, "Young man, I too know who I am. What I don’t know is where I’m going." Without the ticket, he does not know which station to alight.

Do you know where you are going?

JESUS CAME so that we can know THE WAY back home.

• This world is not our eternal home. We have drifted far from God.

• The Bible calls this sin. We have sinned against God and the penalty of this is separation from God.

• But Jesus came. Not only did He introduce to us God, He paid the price for us to be reconciled to God.

• He took our punishment upon himself and died for our sin.

The angels says, "…for to you is born this day a SAVIOUR who is Jesus Christ." (Luke 2:11)

• He saves us from condemnation and grants us forgiveness of sin.

• At Christmas, we want to give thanks.

Because HE CAME, we know THE TRUTH about God and His will for us.

• We are like people living in darkness, unable to tell what is true/false, right/wrong, or good/bad. A terrorist will tell you that killing innocent lives can be alright and good.

• We need to know God and His will for our life. Man can only guess, unless God reveals to us.

• What we need are not just things, we need a relationship with God.

It’s like this child in an orphanage.

A man and his wife visited an orphanage where they hoped to adopt a child. In an interview with the boy they wanted, they told him in glowing terms about the many things they could give him – good food, good toys, and nice clothing.

To their amazement, the little fellow said, "If you have nothing to offer except a good home, clothes, toys, and the other things that most kids have - why - I would just as well stay here.

"What on earth could you want besides those things?" the woman asked?

"I just want someone to love me," replied the little boy.

It is a relationship that we need, not things. Nothing in this world can grant us fulfilment.

• Man’s greatest need today is the need to KNOW GOD and to walk in His ways.

JESUS CAME so that we can know THE TRUTH.

• The truth about God and His will. To know that we are sinners in need of God’s forgiveness.

• If life comes from Him, then He alone knows how we ought to live it.

• We do not have to guess today because God has revealed the truth to us, through Jesus Christ.

• Let us worship Him and serve Him, and glorify Him in all that we say and do.

Because HE CAME, we receive an abundant and eternal LIFE.

• Not just being alive, but having an abundant life in fellowship with God.

• We are to live with Him forever. God did not design life to be lived without Him.

• Previously we are like a sick person in need of the doctor’s diagnosis and cure.

• We don’t know the meaning and purpose of life. Daily we eat, work and sleep; and then wake up to eat, work and sleep. Everyday we repeat this cycle until this ‘machine’ gives way.

JESUS CAME so that we can have LIFE with God.

• Jesus said, "I have come in order that you might have life - life in all its fullness." (John 10:10).

• When we accept Christ as our Saviour and acknowledge that He died in our place as a punishment for our sin, we are forgiven and will begin to experience this new life in Christ.

God’s plan is not for man to be separate, but many are today.

• A good job, good pay, or good house cannot give us fulfilment in life.

• We need the love, hope and peace - only God can give.

• Life is empty without Him. You need to invite Jesus into your life today.

• Acknowledge that you are lost and you need Him. Accept Christ as your Saviour.

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son Jesus, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but will have eternal life with God. (John 3:16)

Because of Christmas, we now know THE WAY, we understand THE TRUTH, and we have an abundant LIFE.

Will you accept this Christmas gift from God today?

• If you have never trusted Christ as your Saviour, you can do so today.

• Pray, admit you are a sinner and ask God to forgive you.

• Accept Christ as your Saviour. He will come into your life and guide you.

Will you put your trust in Jesus today?

Let’s pray.

Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for loving me and dying for me on the cross. I know that I am a sinner and ask Lord to forgive me of my sins. I open the door of my life and receive You as my Saviour and Lord. Thank you for giving me a new life and making me Your child. Make me the kind of person You want me to be. Fill my heart with Your peace and joy, in Jesus’ name we pray, AMEN.

Dear brothers and sisters-in-Christ, let us make Jesus the FOCUS OF OUR LIFE, not just the focus of Christmas.

• Give Him first place in your heart. He deserves it!

• And serve Him with all you’ve got.
