Summary: How many know that there is power in the Word of God? If there is power in the Word, then we need to learn to speak what it says. When we live what we speak there will be resuts. Miracles will take place.

Speak The Word

Matthew 8:5-13

5 And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him,

6 And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.

7 And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.

8 The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.

9 For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.

10 When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.

11 And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.

12 But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

13 And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.

I have entitled this today: “Speak the Word”

How many know that there is power in the Word of God?

If there is power in the Word, then we need to learn to speak what it says.

Heb 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

God’s Word is quick and it is powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword.

In our opening Scripture, Jesus has entered into Capernaum, and there came to Him a Centurion beseeching Him.

This centurion was a Roman captain that was over 100 people.

This centurion came beseeching Him, strongly requesting of Him, begging Him.

You need to understand that Jesus came not only to cleanse Israel, but to liberate the Gentile as well.

The Centurion soldier said to Jesus, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.

This Gentile Centurion calls Him Lord, proclaiming Him, Lord of all.

According to the Jimmy Swaggart Expository Bible, this disease was a paralysis with contraction of the joints, accompanied with great suffering; the man’s life was threatened.

Verse 7 says, And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.

The emphasis is not on the coming, but instead, on the One who is coming, Namely Christ.

The “I” is emphatic, meaning, “I can, and I will!”

This settles the question regarding Divine Healing.

Matthew 8:8

8 The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.

The Centurion didn’t feel that He was worthy; this probably was because he was a Gentile.

He knew that all Jesus had to do was just speak the Word, and his servant would be healed.

The Word of Christ was all that was needed and the Centurion knew that.

Heb 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Matthew 8:9 says:

9 For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.

The intelligence of this Centurion was remarkable; he knew that the soldiers had to obey him because in his person, resided the authority of the emperor, and similarly, disease obeyed Jesus because in Him was the authority of God.

Verse 10 says when Jesus heard it He marvelled, He went on to say that He had not found so great faith in Israel.

The Gentiles were willing to accept who Jesus was but Israel would not.

Matthew 8:13

13 And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.

I have entitled this today: “Speak the Word”

Here is the reason why:

Dream 1-28-09

I dreamed that I was at a pastor’s church. He was showing a video to the congregation. He was on the video. He was talking about speaking the Word and Miracles would take place. He put his hands on a woman that was blind and he spoke the Word. She was able to see. He then talked about Jesus, how all He had to do was just speak the Word and Miracles and Healings would take place. He talked about how Jesus’ life led Him to Calvary, but if He would have spoken the Word, the Angels would have set Him free. He went on to say Jesus loved us and because He is the Word of God, all things are possible.

Interpretation

Video means vision or message.

He was talking about speaking the Word and Miracles would take place.

2Pe 1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

1Pe 1:25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

We have also a more sure word of prophecy.

According to 1 Peter 1:25 the word of the Lord endureth for ever:

In the dream the man put his hands on a woman that was blind, he spoke the Word and she was able to see.

Heb 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

What Jesus did then He is still able to do; He just wants us to believe that He can.

The Word is active and alive even in the situations that you are going through.

Whenever we speak the Word, something in the Heavens is released.

When we speak the Word, there is a Faith that God can and if it be in His will then He will.

Ro 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Our faith ought to be increased by the Centurion soldier.

If Jesus speaks a Word then something has to happen.

Acts 3:

Ac 3:1 Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour.

2 And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple;

3 Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms.

4 And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us.

5 And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them.

6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.

7 And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.

8 And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.

Peter and John understood if they spoke the Word, which is Jesus, then all things are possible.

“Silver and gold I don’t have but what I do have give I thee.

In the Name of Jesus rise up and walk.”

Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Church, learn to speak the Word, learn to call out to the Word, the Word is Jesus.

Joh 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Back to the dream:

After the lady who was blind was able to see, the pastor talked about Jesus’ life, how that it led Him to Calvary, but if He which is the Word would have spoken the Word, then Angels would have set Him free.

Jesus loved us and He died for our sins at Calvary.

When He was on the cross we were on His mind.

Because He is the Word of God all things are possible!

Mt 19:26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

Mr 9:23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.

John 3:16-17

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

John 3:36 NAS

36 "He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him."

Mt 19:26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

Mr 9:23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.

Church, we need to speak the Word, live the Word, be doers of the Word and when we do, all things are possible to you.

Christ is the Word that became flesh; Christ is the Word that was in the beginning with God.

Maybe we are like the Centurion and we don’t feel we are worthy.

Ro 5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

Ro 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

Church, speak the Word and watch Miracles take place in your life!

Closing

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God

Mathew 8:7 says, And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.

The emphasis is not on the coming, but instead, on the One who is coming, Namely Christ.

The “I” is emphatic, meaning, “I can, and I will!”

What do you have need of this morning?

Maybe you need a Miracle in your life!

God does not want you to be blind, He wants you to see.

Isa 8:10 Take counsel together, and it shall come to nought; speak the word, and it shall not stand: for God is with us.

Php 1:14 And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.
