Summary: Our are services controled by our watches? It is time to put our watches up and let God have control of our services.

Watching Our Watch

Psalm 69:13-21

13 But as for me, my prayer is unto thee, O LORD, in an acceptable time: O God, in the multitude of thy mercy hear me, in the truth of thy salvation.

14 Deliver me out of the mire, and let me not sink: let me be delivered from them that hate me, and out of the deep waters.

15 Let not the waterflood overflow me, neither let the deep swallow me up, and let not the pit shut her mouth upon me.

16 Hear me, O LORD; for thy lovingkindness is good: turn unto me according to the multitude of thy tender mercies.

17 And hide not thy face from thy servant; for I am in trouble: hear me speedily.

18 Draw nigh unto my soul, and redeem it: deliver me because of mine enemies.

19 Thou hast known my reproach, and my shame, and my dishonour: mine adversaries are all before thee.

20 Reproach hath broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none.

21 They gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.

I have entitled this today: “Watching Our Watch”

David said in Psalm 69:13: But as for me, my prayer is unto thee, O LORD, in an acceptable time:

Sometimes, as Christians, we think God does not hear us when we pray.

David was saying, “but as for me”, David, by no way, was perfect but David had a heart that longed for the things of God.

David’s prayer was unto the Lord.

Verse 13 speaks of David as a type of Christ, both David and Christ cried to God incessantly.

David, as a type of Christ, knew that God was his only hope, the greater Son of David would likewise cry to God for leading and guidance.

This ought to be an example. God is the only One who can protect us and can, in fact, change our situations, whatever they might be.

Psalm 69:14

14 Deliver me out of the mire, and let me not sink: let me be delivered from them that hate me, and out of the deep waters.

David is speaking of, in this passage, the terrible mire of sin that he has fallen into regarding Bathsheba.

His enemies of which seemed to be many probably used this weapon against him.

The same could be said of Christ in a greater way, except He committed no sin.

Jesus would take our sin upon Himself, becoming one with its penalty; He would suffer the full affects of its sorrow, even though He didn’t failed one time.

David needed deliverance and God is the only One who can bring about deliverance.

Psalm 69:15

15 Let not the waterflood overflow me, neither let the deep swallow me up, and let not the pit shut her mouth upon me.

This is the perfect picture of Satan to destroy an individual.

These passages could well apply to Gethsemane, when Satan attempted to kill Christ before He could go to the Cross.

Only God’s intervention saved His life.

Whenever I think pit, I think of a type of Hell.

Sometimes I think we decide that we like what is on the inside of the pit.

The pit might look beautiful and enticing, but we need to understand who is actually in the pit.

Satan is in the pit and he wants to take you as close as you will go, thinking that you will fall into the pit with him.

Sin might look good but it will kill you.

Psalm 69:17

17 And hide not thy face from thy servant; for I am in trouble: hear me speedily.

David was a servant, who was in trouble, He needed help.

Psalm 69: 18

18 Draw nigh unto my soul, and redeem it: deliver me because of mine enemies.

Anyone who is truly called of God will experience the opposition of these enemies.

They will come from 3 sources.

A. The world

B. The apostate church

C. Demon spirits

Satan wants to take you down, He hates you and he does not want you to win the battles that you are going through.

Sometimes I think we think we can handle the situations that we are going through ourselves.

What time is it? It is time to call upon the Lord for the help that we need.

Philippians 4:13 says, I can do all things through Christ which strengthenth me.

I have entitled this today: “Watching Our Watch”

The reason I preached this today:

Dream 1-31-09

I dreamed that we were starting church service. It was a Sunday night. I noticed that even more new people were coming in. I went up front to preach and I noticed that I had left my notes at home. I told another Pastor who was there that I was going to go through my old sermons and preach them. I asked the man if he wanted to preach. He said, “Yes”. I noticed a video about Jesus playing on the screen. I realized that it was being controlled by Susan and my watch. We walked out to the vestiview and we left the watches out there. We went back in and I wondered if the man was going to preach.

Interpretation

We are having more people coming into our services.

Our building was expanded.

I had left my notes at home; I was going to use some of my old sermons.

I was going back through my dreams over the years and putting sermons together.

I might even start preaching some of my old sermons from time to time.

I noticed a video about Jesus playing on the screen. I realized it was being controlled by Susan and my watch.

Is it possible that we put God on a timetable in our services?

We need to get rid of our watches and focus on Jesus and what He wants to do.

What time is it?

Its time to quit watching our watches and let God do the things that He wants to do in our services.

Do you need deliverance?

Lu 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

Don’t you think that it is time for you to cry out to God and mean it?

Psalm 69:32-36

32 The humble shall see this, and be glad: and your heart shall live that seek God.

33 For the LORD heareth the poor, and despiseth not his prisoners.

34 Let the heaven and earth praise him, the seas, and every thing that moveth therein.

35 For God will save Zion, and will build the cities of Judah: that they may dwell there, and have it in possession.

36 The seed also of his servants shall inherit it: and they that love his name shall dwell therein.

Do we seek God? If we do, we will live.

Verse 33, His prisoners refer to those that follow Him; the Lord will always hear those who follow Him.

The ones who are called humble and poor will see the entirety of the Heavens and the Earth praising Him.

This will be fulfilled in the millennial reign, and forever.

Psalm 69: 36

36 The seed also of his servants shall inherit it: and they that love his name shall dwell therein.

Here Jesus is called “the Seed”.

Paul wrote in Galatians 3:16

Ga 3:16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

Are you watching your watch?

What time is it?

It is time for us to claim what God has given us.

We are part of that seed that will live forever.

2Co 1:20 For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

2Co 7:1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

Heb 6:12 That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

2Pe 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

Are you watching your watch today?

What time is it?

It is time to be His Bondservants and receive the blessings that He has set before us.

It is time to really serve Him with all of our heart.

We need to seek God’s will and God’s plan for our lives.

Are you in bondage to something this morning?

Don’t you think that it is time for deliverance in your situation?

To preach deliverance to the captives,

Jesus is your deliverance today.

Closing

Are you watching your watch this morning?

What time is it?

It is time to speak the Word, live what It says and obtain the promises that He has made unto us.
