Summary: When God speaks, the devils tremble, then they go to work contradicting the Word of God. This message shows how Gods will and satans war against each other.

Step II; Overcoming Obstacles

1 John 2:15-17

Matthew 4:1-11

Genesis 3:6

Question; Is temptation sin?

I. Obstacle # 1 (Matthew 4:3)

1. Lust of the eyes

a. Jesus- these stones- (vs. 3)

b. Adam & Eve- saw tree good food (g. 3:6a)

2. Question; is that what God said

a. Jesus- if Son (3:17-is) (4:3-if)

b. A&E- shalt not eat (2:16-17; not) (3:1 hath God)

3. Solution #1

a. Jesus- Dt. 8:3 (vs. 4) feed the craving

b. A&E- Gen 3:6b fed the craving {took and ate}

1. yielded to the craving, took eyes off word

II. Obstacle #2 (Matthew 4:5-6)

1. Lust of the flesh

a. Jesus- tempt God by endangering body, the

problem was it would have demanded of

God evidence instead of waiting of

perfect will. (Is. 53:5)

1) procession; desert – city, it is written

1. city- look @ all these helpless sinners, the

citizens have left Gods laws, if you jump,

the people will be convinced and repent

of unbelief. (what a sign)

2. Had jumped, people would have seen Him

as another Elijah, immediately crowned

Him King...Messiah

3. is it written, misquotation ps. 91:11-12

11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot

against a stone.

4. what’s missing? In all your ways; it was not Gods will for His Son to put on an acrobatic act, but to be lifted up as Moses lifted up serpent in wilderness.

b. A&E- (gen 3:4)

1. you shall not surely die- go ahead, just once, it can’t hurt you, God just doesn’t want you to have fun; I know what’s best for me!

2. Question? Is/if, did God surely say???

3. Solution #2

a. Jesus-Dt.6:16, vs. 7 Gods will seals the deal!

b. A&E- forsook Gods plan & followed the wrong path

1. gen 3:6 b. took & ate yielded to cravings turn

truth into a lie for their own purpose.

III. Obstacle #3 (Matthew 4:8-9)

1. Pride of Life

a. Jesus- false worship root of this one! This is what

satan has wanted all along, to be a god! Pride,

the very thing that had him removed from

heaven and cast down to the condemned

creature that was once the most beautiful of

creation! Is.14:11-13 & Ez. 28:11-18

b. A&E- Gen 3:5 you shall be gods

C. procession- wilderness to city to glory of everything.

1. satan only shows front end, not consequences!

2. it always looks good, but beware it’s a trap!

3. God will give us all these things, but not till perfection of heaven where rust & moth cannot corrupt!

2. Question;

1. Jesus-no question of who Jesus is this time, but that He will not have to suffer the brutality of Calvary if He does satan request, worship him, shortcut, you know you really

don’t want to have to go through with this for all these people I have showed you that will reject you anyway!

2. A&E- don’t you want to be a god?

Dianetics by L.Ron Hubbard Oprah, Dr. Phil, self help books, the Govt.These people don’t live in a real world of low wages,balancing life and work, mixed in with family, prosperity preachers that falsely promise wealth and power???

3. Solution #3

a. Jesus- Dt. 6:13 &10:20 {vs.10}

20 Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God; him shalt thou serve, and to him shalt thou cleave, and swear by his name.

in other words... seek first...

b. A&E- (gen. 3:6-7) Two natures at work!

I Cor. 15:45 The Scriptures tell us, “The first man, Adam, became a living person.”[h] But the last Adam—that is, Christ—is a life-giving Spirit. 46 What comes first is the natural body, then the spiritual body comes later. 47 Adam, the first man, was made from the dust of the earth, while Christ, the second man, came from heaven. 48 Earthly people are like the earthly man, and heavenly people are like the heavenly man. 49 Just as we are now like the earthly man, we will someday be like the heavenly man. 50 What I am saying, dear brothers and sisters, is that our physical bodies cannot inherit the Kingdom of God. These dying bodies cannot inherit what will last forever.

*** yielding to sin from temptation is not the answer, it is only a question***

So the answer to our original question;

No, Jesus was tempted in all ways, yet sinless!

Jesus is the answer...
