“What Ticket Are You Holding”

Luke 12:5 NLT

You know in a lot of places in our world they use tickets for all kinds of things.

Raffles, lotteries, and casinos all use tickets in some way or other. People run around hoping that they are holding the winning number!

I came with a word this morning about some other tickets that people are holding that will make an eternal difference in their life.

Hand out tickets with the different names on them. Tell holder to hold onto it until I call on it!

The events that are taking place in our world today are demanding that we identify what is really important to us in our life.

If you cannot be honest with yourself then who can you be real with?

Remember this;

Ecclesiastes 12:14 NLT God will judge us for everything we do, including every secret thing, whether good or bad.

Now I want us to look at what the Lord was sharing in my heart this week.

We have heard a lot about having a ticket to heaven. But did you know that absolutely no one gets in HELL without a ticket!

Let’s look at some of the tickets it takes to get into hell.

Revelation 21:7-8 NLT All who are victorious will inherit all these blessings, and I will be their God, and they will be my children.

“But cowards, unbelievers, the corrupt, murderers, the immoral, those who practice witchcraft, idol worshipers, and all liars—their fate is in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”

I believe we have a clear picture of some of the tickets a person will hold that will grant them access to an eternity in hell.

I. Let’s take a closer look at some of these tickets.

1. Cowards…

Does anyone have any idea what this refers to in this scripture?

They are unwilling to stand firm in the face of trouble and testing. They are not so much unbelievers but rather those who are unfaithful or faithless!

John 20:26-27 NLT Eight days later the disciples were together again, and this time Thomas was with them. The doors were locked; but suddenly, as before, Jesus was standing among them. “Peace be with you,” he said. 27 Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here, and look at my hands. Put your hand into the wound in my side. Don’t be faithless any longer. Believe!”

Unwilling to risk not being accepted by the crowd. Maybe embarrassed because you think you don’t know enough about the bible to give right or correct answers.

Deuteronomy 31:6 NLT So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the LORD your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.”

Say with me right now; “I will be strong & courageous in Jesus!”

2. Unbelievers…

These represent those who are not Christians or profess to be one. Listen to Paul making his point to a group of Christians concerning the difference.

1 Corinthians 5:9-11 NLT When I wrote to you before, I told you not to associate with people who indulge in sexual sin. 10 But I wasn’t talking about unbelievers who indulge in sexual sin, or are greedy, or cheat people, or worship idols. You would have to leave this world to avoid people like that. 11 I meant that you are not to associate with anyone who claims to be a believer[a] yet indulges in sexual sin, or is greedy, or worships idols, or is abusive, or is a drunkard, or cheats people. Don’t even eat with such people.

We are not going to talk a lot about this one. You know right now that no unbeliever will make heaven so that is their personal ticket to separation from God forever!

Say with me right now; “I will not be found as an unbeliever & I will not build unfruitful relationships with unbelievers!” I will walk in the light as Jesus is my light!

3. The Corrupt/Murders… (Abominable)

Who is the corrupt referred to here?

Random House Dictionary:

guilty of dishonest practices, as bribery; lacking integrity; crooked: a corrupt judge. debased in character; depraved; perverted; wicked; evil:

If we get honest with our self we find out it is rather simple to

identify what ticket your are carrying to find your place in eternity!

Say with me; Through Jesus Christ my Lord, I will not live a

corrupt life by will intentionally & on Purpose live my life in His

character!

4. Immoral…

John Gill, one of the early father’s of our faith said this; all unclean persons, that indulge themselves in impure lusts, in fornication, adultery, and all lewdness;

Ephesians 5:3 NLT Let there be no sexual immorality, impurity, or greed among you. Such sins have no place among God’s people.

The immoral or lust ticket is one that is being carried around by multitudes in our world today!

How many of you know someone that is being affected by this ticket in their life today?

Colossians 3:5 NLT So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires.

Say with me; From this day forward I will not be caught in the web of immorality in any way! I will walk in purity by putting on my new person who is made in the righteousness of Jesus!

5. Practice Witchcraft…

Micah 5:12 NLT I will put an end to all witchcraft, and there will be no more fortune-tellers.

Hypnotist, psychics, horoscopes, & anything else that offers to give you insight into your future apart from God Himself.

Those who continue allowing outside sources to speak into their life are practicing in rebellion.

1 Samuel 15:23 Amp For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as idolatry and teraphim (household good luck images).

We can break the power of most every sin in our life by getting free from every form of rebellion!

Say with me; I will not practice rebellion of any kind in my life! Jesus knows my future & in Him I place all my trust!

6. Idolatry…

An "idolater" is a slave to the depraved ideas his idols represent, Galatians 4:8,9; and thereby, to divers lusts, Titus 3:3.

Before you Gentiles knew God, you were slaves to so-called gods that do not even exist. 9 So now that you know God (or should I say, now that God knows you), why do you want to go back again and become slaves once more to the weak and useless spiritual principles of this world?

Bottom line, anything you allow to take a greater priority in your life than your relationship with God can become idolatry!

Say with me; I will allow nothing to come between me & my relationship with God! Jesus, you are my first priority!

7. All Liars…

Psalm 101:7 NLT I will not allow deceivers to serve in my house, and liars will not stay in my presence.

1 Timothy 4:1-2 NLT Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will turn away from the true faith; they will follow deceptive spirits and teachings that come from demons. These people are hypocrites and liars, and their consciences are dead.

People that refuse to speak the truth. Their conscience becomes void & they get to the place they cannot tell the difference between truth & deception.

Say with me; I will not allow deception any place in my life. Jesus is truth & He lives in me! I walk in the truth from this day forward.

II. Jesus has made His Ticket available…

Why do you think the word of God has exposed all these things for us?

He loved us so much that He wanted to expose everything that would hinder us from relationship with Him!

2 Peter 3:9 NKJV The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

What about you, what ticket are you truly carrying in your heart today?

• How many people do you know your age that are gone on into eternity?

• Are you willing to risk what ticket you are holding as if you are hoping to win the lottery or something?
