KEY VERSES LUKE 24:44-45

A message for Easter and beyond

Palm Sunday. He knew.

GO INTO THE VILLAGE AND FIND, THEY FOUND EVEN AS HE SAID. vs30,32

Luke 19:29-32, 41-44

29And it came to pass, when he was come nigh to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount called the mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples,

30Saying, Go ye into the village over against you; in the which at your entering ye shall find a colt tied, whereon yet never man sat: loose him, and bring him hither.

31And if any man ask you, Why do ye loose him? thus shall ye say unto him, Because the Lord hath need of him.

32And they that were sent went their way, and found even as he had said unto them.

HE WEPT BECAUSE HE KNEW AND THEY DID NOT vs 41,44c

41 And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it,

42 Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.

43 For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side,

44 And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.

Holy Thursday. He Knew.

GO AND PREPARE, AND THEY FOUND IT AS HE SAID vs 8,10,13

Luke 22

8And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare us the passover, that we may eat.

9And they said unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare?

10And he said unto them, Behold, when ye are entered into the city, there shall a man meet you, bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he entereth in.

11And ye shall say unto the goodman of the house, The Master saith unto thee, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?

12And he shall shew you a large upper room furnished: there make ready.

13And they went, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.

REMEMBER WHAT HE SAID? FINALLY THEY REMEMBERED vs 6,8

Luke 24:1-9, 44-51

1 Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.

2 And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre.

3 And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.

4 And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments:

5 And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead?

6 He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,

7 Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.

8 And they remembered his words,

9 And returned from the sepulchre, and told all these things unto the eleven, and to all the rest.

HE OPENED THEIR UNDERSTANDING. HE KNEW. NOW THEY BEGAN TO vs 45

44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the

psalms, concerning me.

45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,

46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:

47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

48 And ye are witnesses of these things.

49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

50 And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them.

51 And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.

HE KNEW, AND TOLD THEM. BUT THEY STILL DID NOT QUITE UNDERSTAND vs 3-5

John 14

1Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

2In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

4And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.

5Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?

6Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

WHO KNEW, THEY KNEW BECAUSE THEY SAW, WE KNOW BY FAITH, NOT BY SIGHT vs 8

1 Peter 1:3-13

3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

4To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,

5Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

6Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:

7That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

8Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

9Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

10Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:

11Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.

12Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.

13Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ

WHO KNEW? JESUS KNEW...

AN ACCOUNT AND COMPILATION OF EVENTS IN THE LIFE OF CHRIST

Follow Me, he said, and I will make you fishers of men.

Through their journey. Who Knew? He knew. They did not know.

With the water turned to wine. He knew. They did not

When the fishes and loaves fed the crowd. Who Knew? He knew. They watched in awe.

When he healed the sick. Who Knew? He knew. They stood amazed

When he made the blind to see. Who Knew? He knew. They saw, but couldn’t comprehend it.

When he spoke of his death and resurrection. Who Knew? He knew. They were too busy speaking of who was greatest among them.

When he told Peter that the rooster would crow on his 3rd denial. Who Knew? He knew. Peter defied it.

When dipped his bread with the betrayer. Who Knew? He knew. They questioned, is it I?

When he went to pray. Who Knew? He knew. They fell asleep.

When Judas kissed him. Who Knew? He knew. They grabbed the sword.

When Jesus stood before Pilate. Who Knew? He knew. Pilate could find no wrong

When the crowd was asked Barrabas or Jesus. Who Knew? He knew. They called for the murderers release

When they stripped him, beat him, crowned him with thorns. Who Knew? He knew. They mocked and spit upon him

When they led him to Golgotha carrying his cross in his arms. Who Knew? He knew.

They didn’t realized he was carrying the weight of the worlds sin upon his back.

When they nailed him to the cross. Who Knew? He knew. They didn’t realize his love for them.

At the Cross. They mocked him and put a sign upon his head. Hail the King of the Jews. Who Knew? He knew. For he is the King of Kings

When he said. Father forgive them, for they know not what they do. Who Knew? He knew. as they cast lots for his clothes.

When the man on the cross beside him said. Remember me when you come into your kingdom. Who Knew? He knew. And said to him. Today you will be with me in paradise.

As the sun and sky became darkened, and the veil was torn in two. Satan assumed victory. God’s wrath for our sin, upon his own son, Jesus. Who Knew? Jesus knew. And he cried out. It is Finished.

And the whole world in that instance, was given the promise that had been foretold beginning in the days of Moses.

Who Knew, Jesus knew. For he was the sacrifice for sins forgiven. The Jewish Messiah as prophesied and promised.

From darkness to light. He shed his blood for us.

From the cross to the grave. Who Knew? He knew. For the battle had been won

His followers hid themselves for fear. For their leader had fallen. Who Knew? He knew. For death could not contain him.

When the Stone was rolled away. Who Knew? He knew. For he IS the life.

I am the Resurrection and the Life, Jesus said. Do you believe this? Who Knew? He knew. For the stone was rolled away.

As they ran to see the tomb. Who Knew? He knew. For Jesus went before us, to show us the way.

When they found it empty. Who Knew? He knew. For he had the victory. Over Satan, and over the Grave. And as he had promised. He had gone to prepare a place for us.

As they stood in disbelief. Who Knew? He knew. For he said he would return again.

When in the upper room, they shook in disbelief. Who Knew? He knew. And he showed them his nail pierced hands.

Who is this JESUS the Nazarene? Who Knew? He knew. He was the Son of God

Who came to make a way for us. To show us how to live. To forgive us from our sins.

And he took it upon himself, by his extreme love for us. To take our sin upon himself. Bled and died sacrificially. Buried and rising again. Proving he was who he said he was.

Who knew. Jesus knew. And now you do too.

Jesus is the Son of God. Today we celebrate his resurrection. Today we can see that he showed us his sacrificial love for us. And that as we follow him. We too will experience resurrection to life everlasting.

But as he asked. Do you believe?

We must make our mind up to accept him. And believe him. And give our lives over to him.

At the beginning of his ministry. When Jesus called out his disciples. He asked a plain and simple question.

Follow Me.

WILL YOU FOLLOW HIM TODAY?

HE KNEW that you would be here today. HE KNEW that you would hear this message today.

When HE ASKS US TO FOLLOW HIM. WE CAN FOLLOW HIM him from this moment on. For eternity.

FOLLOW HIM AS WE LIVE OUR LIVES UPON THIS EARTH.

FOLLOW HIM INTO LIFE EVERLASTING.

God loves us so much that he sent Jesus, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but live eternally with him.

We can follow him to the place which he has promised that he has prepared for us.

BELIEVE HIM

FOLLOW HIM

Who Knew? He knew.

And now do you?

ITS TIME FOR YOU TO DECIDE.

BELIEVE AND FOLLOW HIM
