My Advocate, My Lawyer
1 John 2:1-2
1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
I have entitled this today: “My Advocate, My Lawyer”
Verse one presents the fact that the Lord saves us from sin, not in sin.
This passage tells us that we, as believers, do not have to sin, victory over sin is found in the Redemption plan of the Cross.
If any man does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
I did not say that we would not sin; I said sin is a choice that we make.
I understand there is no one that is perfect, but I also understand that we sin by choices we make.
Sometimes our flesh becomes weak and we give in to the temptations of the enemy.
Understand again, that is a choice you make. When I am weak, Christ makes me strong, at least if I let Him.
We, as Christians, have an Advocate that will stand in the gaps with us.
Jesus is not only in our hearts but He is seated at the right hand of the Father, signifying that His mission is complete, and His very Presence guarantees intercession.
Hebrews 7:25-26
25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. 26 For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;
Heb 9:24 For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:
Heb 10:12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
I John 2:2 says: And he is the propitiation, Satisfaction, for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
This is saying that the satisfaction is as wide as the sin.
If man does not experience its benefit, then it is man’s fault.
Sin will kill, but the good news is Christ Jesus made a way for us to be forgiven of those sins.
Jesus, our Advocate, is the One who will stand in the gap between us and the Father, and He makes a way to Him where there was no way.
Ro 8:34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

Church, we have an advocate, we have a Lawyer that will go to battle for us.
Satan wants to trap us in sin and he wants us to think after we have sinned, then there is no hope.
Joh 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
Jesus came that we might have life more abundantly!
Sometimes when we mess up, we stay in the thing that we messed up in.
When we stay in a mess up, it is sin. Sin will send you to hell unless it is forgiven.

Dream 6-22-09
I dreamed that I was wrongfully accused of a crime and was thrown into prison. I escaped but I knew I needed to go back. I knew I had a lawyer that would not let me down.
Interpretation
Have you ever been accused of a crime that you didn’t do, and everyone thought you did it?
Because of this, you were thrown into a prison even though you knew you were innocent.
Satan is an accuser of the brethren.
Re 12:10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
Satan will accuse and he will try to get others to accuse you of sinning.
Satan get off my back, I am not perfect but I am forgiven, take your lies and tell them somewhere else.
Lu 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
1. Preach the Gospel to the poor
2. Heal the broken hearted
3. To preach deliverance to the captives
4. Recovering of sight to the blind
5. To set at liberty them that are bruised,
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me and you; He has appointed us to do these things today.
Joh 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
In the dream I escaped, but I knew I needed to go back.
I need to go back and help others who are in prisons that I have been in.
I need to let people know that we have an Advocate, who will stick closer than a brother, who will fight our battles for us.
He will call Satan what he is, a liar who does not know how to tell the truth.
I have a lawyer that is smarter than the schemes of Satan and his imps.
I have a lawyer that will stand in the gap for me.
I have a lawyer that will make a way out of something that looks impossible.
Do we believe that God really can?
Mt 19:26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
Mr 9:23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
Mr 10:27 And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.
Do we feel that the enemy of our soul is accusing us of a crime that we didn’t do?
He can accuse all he wants to, because I am fighting the good fight and I know that no matter what comes aginst me, I will stand because of Jesus.
I am not telling you that you will never sin, I am not telling you that you will never mess up. What I am telling you is that if we get faithful to God, we will overcome these traps that the enemy is setting.
I am an overcomer by the Word of my testimony.
Jesus is my Testimony!
Sometimes we open up the doors for our prisons by not being obedient to what the Word says to do.
Obedience leads to victory!
Are you in a prison of your own making?
Repent and turn the other direction, let God lead you in the paths of righteousness.
If you are struggling to get out of your prison, ask God in the Name of Jesus to set you free.
Joh 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
What the church world needs is to be set free from the bondage of sin.
Jesus can make you free because that is what He came to do, set the captives free.
Satan has tried to confuse many great Saints of the past, but they stayed on their knees and they stayed in the Word of God.
Maybe what we need is wisdom?
Jas 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
Ask God, and believe that He will.
Collosians 2:2-3
Col 2:2 That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;
3 In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. {In whom: or, Wherein}

Your Advocate, Your Lawyer!
Your answer to this life!
What we need to do is start seeking first God’s agenda, God’s Kingdom and not our own.
He is going to bring me out of this desert where it is so thirsty and dry.
Closing
2 Peter 3:17-18
17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.
18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
