Summary: The pecking order, as we know it, is going to change. There is going to be a God factor in the church world that we have never seen before. God, who looks at the heart, is going to jump some of you over others because you are keeping His commandments.

The Promotion

Psalm 75:1-10

1 Unto thee, O God, do we give thanks, unto thee do we give thanks: for that thy name is near thy wondrous works declare.

2 When I shall receive the congregation I will judge uprightly.

3 The earth and all the inhabitants thereof are dissolved: I bear up the pillars of it.

4 I said unto the fools, Deal not foolishly: and to the wicked, Lift not up the horn:

5 Lift not up your horn on high: speak not with a stiff neck.

6 For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.

7 But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.

8 For in the hand of the LORD there is a cup, and the wine is red; it is full of mixture; and he poureth out of the same: but the dregs thereof, all the wicked of the earth shall wring them out, and drink them.

9 But I will declare for ever; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.

10 All the horns of the wicked also will I cut off; but the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.

I have entitled this today: “The Promotion”

We, as a people of God, need to give thanks and understand that God is near.

In verse one it says that your name is near thy wondrous works declare.

Verse two says: When I shall receive the congregation I will judge uprightly.

This speaks of the second coming, when the Lord will set up His government, which will cover the entirety of the whole earth.

Psalm 75:3

3 The earth and all the inhabitants thereof are dissolved: I bear up the pillars of it. Selah.

This predicts the termination in confusion and guilt of mans’ government, as well as the firm establishment of the Messiah’s rule.

The latter portion of this verse speaks of all creations that are upheld by God through Christ.

Heb 1:3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

Psalm 75: 4

4 I said unto the fools, Deal not foolishly: and to the wicked, Lift not up the horn:

Eastern women once wore a protruding ornament on the forehead called a horn. As sons were born the horn was raised.

The expression “to lift up the horn” means to become proud, it addresses itself to all who would be lifted up in pride.

Verse five says: Lift not up your horn on high: speak not with a stiff neck.

The coming Anti-Christ will lift himself up greatly.

2 Thesalonians 2:3-4

3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

Look at Psalm 75:6

6 For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.

The Antichrist will claim great things, when in actuality, he will not be able to do anything that is lasting.

In this verse notice that “North” is not mentioned, proclaiming the fact that promotion comes from the North which has to do with where Heaven and the Throne of God are.

Psalm 75:7

7 But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.

Men, even in the modern church, look to other men for promotions; they forget that God is the judge.

God is saying that He is the one who will lift up the horn, not man, if man does such it will only breed pride.

If God does it will breed humanity.

In the strict interpretation of this verse it means that the Lord will “put down” the antichrist and “set up” the Lord Jesus Christ.

I have entitled this today: “The Promotion”

Dream 8-6-09

I dreamed that I was a crew person at Bob Evans. The owner walked up to me and he promoted me to supervisor. He overlooked people who were higher in the organization and promoted someone new.

Interpretation

Bob Evans is not McDonalds, a better quality of food.

Crew person-someone who is at the beginning stages where they work.

Owner represents God, He owns everything.

Promoted me to supervisor-someone who oversees what and how things are done.

Makes sure things are run right.

Sometimes God overlooks people that we think He will use and use people who are willing to be used.

1Sa 16:7 But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.

Whenever I think promotion in the Word of God, I think about a Shepherd boy who was annointed the next King of Israel.

God does not look on the countenance or on the height of your stature; for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.

God looks at the heart, He knows why we say and do the things that we say and do.

David defeated the giants in his life and became what God had destined him to become.

Da 3:30 Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, in the province of Babylon.

They were promoted because of obediance to God; they would not bow to the idol that was set up.

God is the one who promotes and He can demote if He chooses.

God is the one who opens and He is the one who can close doors in our lives.

God has a key for you to go where it is that He wants you to go, but you have to be a willing vessel.

Re 3:8 I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.

God has set before you an open door, and no man can shut that door.

God wants you to know that He has a Divine call for your life.

If you are willing to listen and apply His Word to your life, then He will promote you in the things of Him.

Psalm 75:1

1 Unto thee, O God, do we give thanks, unto thee do we give thanks: for that thy name is near thy wondrous works declare.

John 14:12-14

12Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

Ro 16:26 But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:

1 John 3:20-24

20 For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.

21 Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.

22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.

23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.

24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

Whatever we ask, we receive of Him because we keep His commandments and we do the things that are pleasing in His sight.

When we believe on His Name it means we are obedient to what Jesus says to do.

If we keep His commandments we dwell in Him and Him in us.

Psalm 75:6-7

6 For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.

7 But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.

The pecking order, as we know it, is going to change. There is going to be a God factor in the church world that we have never seen before.

God, who looks at the heart, is going to jump some of you over others because you are keeping His commandments.

God is going to put down one, and setteth up others.

This is all coming from the south where God’s Throne is!

God will dethrone some who have lost their luster for Him.

Saul was demoted and David was promoted as King!

Psalm 75:9-10

9 But I will declare for ever; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.

10 All the horns of the wicked also will I cut off; but the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.

The Lord blessed Jacob when Jacob deserved nothing.

The God of Jacob tells us that the Lord will honor anyone who will meet His conditions.

Those conditions are faith in Christ and what He did at the Cross.

Evil will not take best, Rightousness will take best.

The Promotion!

God is about to promote a few of us and take us to a higher level in Him.

Who wants to be promoted?

1Sa 15:22 And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.

To obey is better than sacrifice!

Closing

Psalm 75:6-7

6 For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.

7 But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.

If you want what God has for you come forward and let’s pray.
