Summary: What does God really want for His children, to have abundance? or to barely get by?

I believe I have already established to you that God’s will for His children is to prosper them.

And we also have learned that sowing plays a major role in our prosperity

In order to harvest we need to plant, but even prior we learn to plant God have already provided seeds for us.

Now he who supplies seed to the sower... 2cor. 9:10

God’s Kingdom is not random. God always work according to a pattern based on a principle.

Today, we are going to study the “whys of prosperity”

Why God wants to prosper His children.

When God talks about prosperity are not just a peace of mind and joy ... prosperity literally means prospering in your spirit, soul and body

Of course this includes materially.

Deuteronomy 8:18

And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

Psalms 24:1

The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it…

In the world you get back basically whatever you put in. You swap your time for money, but there’s no getting ahead.

In God’s system, you sow and He multiplies it back to you.

God’s Blessing is an empowerment and anointing that will cause success in every area of our life.

As Christians we need to step out from under the world’s system and learn how to function in God’s system.

We were originally expected to function under God’s Blessing at all times.

However, the Blessing was blocked when the curse was released in the Garden.

The book of Galatians record that if we are in Christ we are not under curse anymore:

If you go to Deuteronomy you will see there are over 600 different laws that say “if you do this and this you will be blessed”.

If you disobey even at one point, that’s tantamount to disobeying everything.

These are few of the curses listed in Deuteronomy 28:

"The fruit of your womb will be cursed, and the crops of your land, and the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks."

This is barrenness or unfruitfulness.

Verse 28,29

The LORD will afflict you with madness, blindness and confusion of mind. At midday you will grope about like a blind man in the dark. You will be unsuccessful in everything you do; day after day you will be oppressed and robbed, with no one to rescue you.

Verse: 38

You will sow much seed in the field but you will harvest little, because locusts will devour it.

Verse: 43,44

The alien who lives among you will rise above you higher and higher, but you will sink lower and lower. He will lend to you, but you will not lend to him. He will be the head, but you will be the tail.

Verse: 45

All these curses will come upon you. They will pursue you and overtake you until you are destroyed, because you did not obey the LORD your God and observe the commands and decrees he gave you.

But thank God for this verse:

Galatians 3:13

Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree."

Why God wants His children to prosper?

1: To provide for the necessities of our family and our relatives.

1 Timothy 5:8

If anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for his immediate family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever

One of the reasons why God wants us to be rich is to help others

You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion

We are blessed to bless others.

Elsewhere in 1 Timothy were Paul is talking about the fund set up for widows.

He makes the point that if a widow has relatives, those relatives need to be taking care of her; they should not burden the church with her expenses.

We need to understand that we are the drop off point of God’s blessing.

The purpose of the Blessing on our lives is that we are supposed to be a blessing to others.

2. God wants us enjoy life.

In addition to providing for necessities, God tells us that one of the uses of money is that we might enjoy it.

Some Christians think that God is kill Joy!

El Simchathgali which means “I am the God of exceeding joy” –I am the God of overflowing, abundant joy.

In other words, “I am the God who knows how to party”

Psalm 103:5

He fills my life with good things. My youth is renewed like the eagle’s!

Historically many in the Christian church have missed this point.

For a long time Christians think that those people who were most spiritual were those who gave away everything.

In some cases even caused themselves pain on purpose in order to be more spiritual.

This is not a biblical view of Christianity. Indeed, it is quite the opposite.

The truth is that Christians are the only people who can really enjoy material wealth.

God wants us to use the money and the riches that he has provided for us for our enjoyment.

1Timothy 6:17

Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment.

When God gives any man wealth and possessions, He enables him to enjoy them.

On the cross, Jesus could have simply focused on our sins and took that away so we can be righteous, but He extended the benefits of the cross to our physical healing, and even in our financial lives.

He chose to allow all His riches to be taken from Him—in substitution—so that we can be “rich”.

3. So we can provide for His church.

Malachi 3:10

Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple .

Like most other organizations, churches need financial income to accomplish their work.

God has authorized churches to raise funds by taking up collections from the members (1 Cor. 16:1,2; 2 Cor. 8 & 9; Acts 4:32-5:11; 11:27-30; 2:44,45).

Acts 11:29 –

Every man determined to give according to his ability.

Remember that, as income increases, generally prosperity and ability also increase, so giving should increase.

Some Christians continue to give the same amount they have for years, even though they have had several increases in income.

2 Corinthians 8:12

For if the willingness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what he does not have.

Christians are responsible to support the work of God.

Those who are not members are not responsible to support the church (though they ought to become members).

But all those in the church ought to give to finance the work.

Our giving is likewise an expression of our love.

It indicates how much we love God and how much we want the church to accomplish its work.

Conclusion:

It is God’s interest to prosper us in all things, including material things.

It is important to know that God wants His children to be blessed.

blessed at all points, spirit, soul and body.

2 Corinthians 8:9

For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.
