Summary: In this sermon I talk about the power given to every believer.

Luke 10:19

19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

(KJV)

To every believer is given power. We can see this power demonstrated in many different ways. Tonight I want to look at two ways the believer can put this power in operation for himself against the enemy.

Title: ~~~

Before we can do anything else I want us to see something that most believers know, but don’t always realize.

Eph 6:12

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. (KJV)

Our battle is not against “Flesh & Blood.” As Christians we need to stop fighting amongst ourselves. We are not supposed to be enemies. We are Brothers & Sisters in Christ. We are family!!! It’s time to take the battle to the real enemy.

How do we do that?

I) Power in Prayer

Jer 33:3

3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not. (KJV)

Prayer is a powerful weapon in the hands of the believer. All we have to do is call on Him.

(When Peter was in prison – Church called prayer meeting)

Matt 16:18-19

18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. (KJV)

The power of binding & loosing is unleashed in the power of prayer! Look at Daniel, he fasted & prayed for 21 days and an angel appeared…The angel told him that the Lord heard him when he began to pray…

The heavens were brass when he prayed.

Isa 45:2-3

2 I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron:

3 And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the Lord, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel. (KJV)

When we get to the place where we learn to take the authority in prayer then the things which the enemy has taken from us, God will see to it that we get them back. In another scripture it tells us that God will make him restore what he’s stolen 7 fold.

Church, we have power in prayer!!!

James 5:16

16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

(KJV)

II) Power in Praise

There are seven levels of praise expressed by 7 hebrew words.

1) Todah – To extend the hands in thanksgiving.

2) Yadah – Worship with extended hands – To throw out the hands enjoying God.

3) Halal – To be vigorously excited; to laud, boast, rave, to celebrate, to be clamorously foolish.

4) Zamar – To pluck strings of an instrument, to praise with song.

5) Barak – To bless, to declare God the origin of power for success, prosperity & fertility; to be still

6) Tehillah – Singing in the Spirit or the singing of halals.

7) Shabach – to commend, address in a loud tone, to shout.

That’s the one we want to look at tonight. Too many Pentecostals have forgotten what it’s like to shout praises unto God.

The shout of praise is one of the channels of power through which God gives victory!!!

Joshua 6

Walls of Jericho

People shouted

Walls fell flat

When confronted with the walls of the enemy, shout the praises of God & watch them fall flat!!!

The psalmist encourages us in this way…

Ps 47:1

1 O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph. (KJV)

I think it is fitting at this point out what the scripture teaches about Christ’s return.

1 Thess 4:16

16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: (KJV)

(Close)

If you’re here tonight & you’re facing the wall of the enemy & you can’t seem to overcome, but you want victory tonight… Stand to your feet & shout for the Lord has given you the city!!!
