Summary: People would not be so confused if they’d simply believe the Bible, I know I have eternal life because I have ask God to forgive me of my sins and wash me in the Blood of Jesus and make me fit for the Kingdom, I ask Jesus to come into my heart and me my L

Eternal life

Today I want to talk for a little while about the fact that we who are saved, are saved because of our believing and trusting in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savoir. He is not our Lord only but He is also our Savoir, if He is only our Lord then why do we call Him our Savior? We gratefully call Him our Savior because He has saved us from the wages of sin, and also from the wrath to come.

Rom. 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

1st. Thess. 1:10 And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come. Notice; - which delivered us from the wrath to come- {pass tense} not going to deliver us, but already has.

I once heard a dear lady say that she didn’t believe any body could really know if they were saved are not until we get there. I personally believe that she is saved according to her testimony, but she’s been raised and fed bad doctrine all her life, she belongs to a denomination that teaches such as this.

Listen friends; let’s believe what the Bible says about it.

Can you picture a person living for the Lord for 40 or 50 years and then some how commit a great sin and then dying suddenly before they had time to repent of that sin, do you think God will really allow that person to go to hell?.

JN. 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned:

Could Jesus say that He never knew that person if in fact that person had at one time been saved but now that he or she has sinned their lost again and He never did know him?

Ø Jesus could never say to a person that’s been saved: “I never knew you”.

Matt.7:22-23 22Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. And lets notice here to that it’s not by doing many wonderful works.

Eph. 2:8-9 8For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Listen dear heart, Jesus died one time for the sins of the whole world, all sins, passed, present and future and He’s not going to die over and over to pay for sins.

His death on the cross to pay the sin debt is a one-time happening, it was planned long before this world or any thing was ever created. Although He did pay for the sins of the whole world, that is, for every body in the world, the people of the world must receive His payment personally as their Substitute.

1st pt. 1:18-20 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed * with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation * received by tradition from your fathers;* 19But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: 20Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world,--

Your sins and mine were paid for before we were ever born yonder on the cross as He died in our stead.

@@@@--1st pt.2: 24

Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. {Were healed not going to be} that is, were healed from our damning sin.

>>>>being dead to sin--being dead to sin--being dead to sin<<<

This verse tells us that we that are saved are dead to sins.

A good illustration of being dead to sin is to think of the person out yonder buried in the graveyard, he’s as dead as he can be, and an atomic bomb could explode on top of his grave or even in his grave and it wouldn’t have the least bit of effect on him in any way, {why?} because he’d dead, it can bother him at all.

Rom 6:6-14 6Knowing this**, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.****{v.7}

*** 7For he that is dead is freed from sin. 8Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:

9Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. 10For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.

11Likewise**{the same way these verses explains about Christ} reckon ye also yourselves to be dead {indeed}** unto sin,** but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

12Let **not sin therefore reign in your mortal body,** that ye should obey it in the lusts [DESIRES} thereof.

13Neither yield ye **your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. 14For sin shall not have dominion over you: **for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

Ø Notice; we are not under the law, but under grace, why does so many people today think that they must so how apply the old testament law to their lives when were plainly told that we’re not under the law but under grace?

JN. 1: 15-17 {the Baptist} 15John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me. 16And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace. 17For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are millions of truly saved people today, they have received Jesus as Lord and Savoir, but don’t really understand what “Savior” means.

Let me remind us when Gabriel was talking to Joseph there in Matt. 1: about the fact that his espoused wife, Mary, was going to be over shadowed by the Holy Spirit and conceive the Baby Jesus? Gabriel even told Joseph what His name would and why?

@@@@ MATT. 1: 20-21 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. 21And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

Notice-- from their sins not in their sins. We see here that the name “JESUS” MEANS “SAVOIR”. and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

It seems that there’s many people that think that their going to have to help Jesus save them, all this does is insult our Great God, it’s as though they think that He needs help in saving them, that the Blood of Jesus might not be quit powerful enough, it’s as though they think that their saviors themselves.

ISA. 43: 11 I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour

ISA. 44: 6 Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.

Ø It seem as if some people sees himself or herself as some kind of god. That was part of the lie that Satan told Eve there in

Gen.3:5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, --

Ø We’re talking about being “eternally saved” today.

John 5:24 ”Verily, verily, I say unto you,** do we believe what Jesus says? He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.” Now either that’s the truth or it’s not the truth.

Romans 8:1 there is therefore now** no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus---

There’s not a person in the world that don’t sin some way or another. We certainly don’t plan on sinning but never the less we do.

1st Jn. !: 8-10 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

1ST JN. 2:1 -2 1My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. **{NOT MY LITTLE LOST SINNERS” And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 2And he is the propitiation for our sins:** and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

If our salvation depended on our own efforts to be victorious over sin, and the temptations of the world, and satanic powers, then we would all be hopelessly lost and condemned, for man so often fails.

But, if we are secure because of the power and will of ONE who is stronger than us, then we can have blessed assurance.

Those who believe they can be saved one day and lost the next have no assurance. They have no joy of sins forgiven, because they believe that they might stumble sometime in the future and wind up condemned by God.

Jesus said- John 10:27-29 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.”

God knows those who are His, and He will keep His.

Listen,-- It’s not up to you and me to keep ourselves; we can’t keep our selves any way.

1st Peter 1:5 declares that He is the One doing the keeping. 1st Peter 1:5 kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Jude 24 Now unto Him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy,

Ps. 37: 27 and forsaketh not His saints; they are preserved for ever: --

Psalm 97:10-- He preserveth the souls of His saints;

There may be some one listening right now that’s thinking that one day before they die that their going to get right with God, but right now they just can’t live it.

But dear heart I don’t know anyone that’s fit for the Kingdom of God in their old self, we’ll never clean ourselves up enough to measure up to Gods standards on our own.

The Lord Jesus came to save sinners, not people who have cleaned them selves up and are now ready to be saved.

1st tim. 1: 15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners--

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We can’t change are self, if we could some how live a life good enough to go to heaven then what was the use in Jesus dying on the cross to pay the sin debt?

Ø Listen to what the apostle Paul said in Titus 3: 3-7

For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts **{desires} and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.

4But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, ( 5Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;) 6Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; 7That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

It seem as though some folks don’t understand what ”eternal” means.

The meaning according to the Greek concordance is {eternal, forever, everlasting,}

Do you mean brother Brown that people can get out here and willfully sin and still go to heaven?

According to the Bible if a saved person continues to live in sins, that person will receive from the Father chastisement, correction, and if that saved person will not acknowledge his or her sins and turn from them God will take that person home by way of an early grave.

Heb.12: 9 Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?

1st JN. 5: 16 There is a sin unto death:

You parents, has any of your children ever did any thing that you had to correct them about?

All of us have had that experience, but you didn’t disown him or her, and another thing is that no matter what our children may do or have done it can not in any way change the fact that their still our children.
