In The Garden
Matthew 26:36-39
God's purpose for our lives and through our lives will be determined:
By the measure of our response.
By the nature of our obedience.
By the fact of our surrender.
By the quality of our faith.
May I to suggest three simple facts as we watch the Master - our Saviour - in the hour of His surrender to the will of the Father?
1. THE PLACE OF SURRENDER.
The Quietness Of The Place.
(We must come to the place where every other voice dies away into silence, so that we may hear the one voice.)
The Clearness Of The Plan.
(Beneath the dark shadows of the trees of the garden, He faced the will of God at a time when for Him there was no shadow of doubt as to what that will really was.)
2. THE PRICE OF SURRENDER.
We Must Surrender To The Word Of Refusal.
We Must Surrender To The Work Of Redemption.
3. THE PEACE OF SURRENDER.
Peace Means The Ceasing Of The Battle.
Peace Means The Coming Of The Blessings.
