Summary: Ever been stressed out? What is the cure!

Survey about woman who have a career and a family..(husband and kids, Parents and in-laws) 75 percent where unhappy, stressed out, burned out!

Verse 38-Now it happened as they went that He entered a certain village; and a certain woman named Martha welcomed Him into her house.

Martha welcomed Him into her house, but Mary welcomed Him into her heart!

Verse 39-And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word.

I think it implies that she got as close to the Lord Jesus as she could possibly get.

Mary was close enough to not only hear every word, but to see the expression on Jesus’

face as He taught .... Don Piper talking about heaven.

Who also sat-Martha must have been sitting there to, but got up and started working

again.

Martha may heard Jesus’ talking but she could pay attention because she was distracted,

Verse 40-But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.”

Martha wasn’t "burned out." She was "burned up!" It’s bad enough to feel like

you have to do everything. It’s even worse when you think of someone you don’t

feel is pulling their weight and who has let you down.

What Martha wanted to do was good. But what Mary wanted to do was even better.

It’s ok to be busy for God. But it’s NOT ok to be so busy for God that you have

no time to BE with God.

It’s not ok to work so hard for God that you have no time left for the Word of God.

And so finally, Martha can’t take it anymore. She reaches her boiling point. And

she says, "Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!"

I think our natural inclination is to be like Martha. When our lives get hectic, we start stressing out. We start trying to control everything. And we start telling people what to do.

lf you notice in verse 40, Martha is even trying to tell JESUS what to do!

H.A. Ironside once wrote, “I am ashamed to say that in a very busy life, I have

not spent nearly as much time at His feet as I should, but every hour spent

there has meant far more than time spent in any other way."

Busyness: It’s Cancerous. Why is busyness so bad?

"The problem with living life in the fast lane is that you get to the toll booth quicker!"

Verse 41-And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things.

But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”

Let me ask you this: Are you doing the ONE THING needed to fulfill God’s will

for your life?

Or is your life cluttered with so many trivial pursuits that you can’t get around to doing that "one thing"? That one thing is studying and listening to what God‘s is saying in His word!

Which Will Not Be Taken Away From Her-There will always be dishes to be washed, grass to be mowed, people to serve, things to do, but what last is the time we spend with Lord!

We will never say at the end of our life, “I wish I wouldn’t spent all that time with Lord!”
