PreText) Exodus chapter 12 (Word of Promise Audio)
Text) I Corinthians 5: 6-8 “Your glorying [is] not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump? 7- Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: 8- Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened [bread] of sincerity and truth.”
Exodus 12:12-13 “For I will pass (march) through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I [am] the LORD. 13- And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye [are]: and when I see the blood, I will pass over (leap over) you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy [you], when I smite the land of Egypt.”
-Time spent on a subject in the Bible tends to indicate its importance.
-Did you notice the use of the word ‘IT’ (in verses 4, 6, 9 and 10)?
--It is estimated that not less than 250,000lambs would have be required for all of Israel.
--Yet God saw them all as one.
--They were the forerunner (type) of the Lamb of God… Jesus!
-Eating the lamb was necessary however it was the Blood that saved.
-The Blood was on the Lintel (above – providing protection from the just wrath from heaven).
-The Blood was on the door posts (separating them from Egypt).
-SO THEN, THE SAME BLOOD THAT SAVEDFROM THE WRATH OF GOD, SEPARATED THEM FROM THE WORLDLYNESS AROUND THEM.
-God said, “When I”, not you, “See the Blood.”
-Verse 2 told them that this would be the beginning of months for them: When the Blood is applied… we begin again!
-The Feast of Unleavened Bread always follows the Feast of the Passover.
--Therefore they didn’t put the leaven out in order to be saved, rather, because they were saved.
-Remember; the Blood wasn’t to be sprinkled upon the floor:
Hebrews 10:28-30 “He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: 29- Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? 30-For we know him that hath said, Vengeance [belongeth] unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.”
