#8~ ANGELS-pt.4 BIBLE DOCTRINE 9-1-12

Today we'll continue with our study to do with bible doctrine, and once again say a few things about "Angels".

Angels are spirit beings, however from time too time have taken the appearance as men, listen as I read from Gen. 18:

>> Let me remind us that one of these MEN was the LORD, because Abraham calls Him "LORD" IN VERSES 1+13-14.

>> Gen.18:1-3 And the LORD appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre: and he (Abraham) sat in the tent door in the heat of the day;

2And he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him: and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground, 3And said, My Lord, if now I have found favour in thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant:

After they enjoyed a meal of STEAK, BREAD, MILK & BUTTER, the Lord told Abraham that at the set time Sarah his wife would have a son even though she was well into her 90's and Abraham 100 years old.

>> 16And the men rose up from thence, (eating) and looked toward Sodom: and Abraham went with them to bring them on the way.

--

>> 20And the LORD said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous; 21 I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know.

22And the men turned their faces from thence, and went toward Sodom: ** but Abraham stood yet before the LORD.

Abraham knew that Lot his nephew lived in Sodom, so he starts with the number 50, if 50 were found to be righteous would God destroy it, and then the number goes all the way down to 10, the LORD said if 10 were found to be righteous He'd not destroy it.

-- I believe it's most probable that the only one there that was righteous was Lot, and he was in such a backslidden condition that even his son's in-law had no confidence in him, the only reason we can know for certain that Lot was righteous is because of what Peter says about him in-

>> 2 Peter 2:7-8 And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: 8(For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, ** (what do we watch on TV.) vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds ;) --

Gen.19:1- And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: -(at the gate is where all business was taken care of, Lot was a prominent citizen of Sodom)- and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground; 2And he said, Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant's house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early, and go on your ways. (Notice, Lot had no idea that soon Sodom would be ashes)- And they said, Nay; but we will abide in the street all night. - (Lot knew full well what would happen to these two strangers if they were left on the streets of Sodom)-

3And he pressed upon them greatly; and they turned in unto him, and entered into his house; and he made them a feast, and did bake unleavened bread, and they did eat.- (Remember these were two angels, the same two that ate a feast at uncle Abrahams only a short time before, now their having another feast at Lots house)--

4But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter: -- (Notice the perverts had the home of Lots completely surrounded, homosexuals of all ages, from all the area)-

5And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them. (Sodomize them; notice too that these angels looked like men to the perverts)

6And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him, 7And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly.

8Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof.-(the Sodomites had rather have the two men than to have Lots two virgin daughters)

9And they said, Stand back. (Talking to Lot) And they said again, This one fellow came in to sojourn, ** (passing through) and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them. - (They were threatening to do the same to Lot if he didn't send these men out) - And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door.

>>10But the men ** put forth their hand, and pulled Lot into the house to them, and shut to the door.

11And they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great: so that they wearied themselves to find the door.

12And the men said unto Lot, Hast thou here any besides? Son-in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring them out of this place:

13For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the LORD; and the LORD hath sent us to destroy it.

14And Lot went out, and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for the LORD will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law. -- (Lot's testimony meant little to his son's in-laws.)

15And when the morning arose, then the angels** hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; ** (lets be sure to notice that these angels didn't continue to persuade Lots other children, God is not in the forcing business, people have a free will to choose) - lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.

16And while he lingered, ** the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.

-- (notice, Lot and his wife and two daughters just lingered around, no hurry at all, they really didn't want to leave)

17And it came to pass, when they had ** brought them forth abroad, - (now that Lot and his wife and two daughters were out side the city, one of the angels gave a command, not a request) that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.

--

18And Lot said unto them, Oh, not so, my Lord: 19Behold now, thy servant hath found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life; and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die:

>> 20Behold now, this city is near to flee unto, and it is a little one: Oh, let me escape thither, (is it not a little one?) and my soul shall live.

>> 21And he ** said unto him, See, I have accepted thee concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow this city, ** for the which thou hast spoken.

>>22Haste thee, escape thither; for I cannot do any thing till thou be come thither. (God will not allow his church to go through one second of the tribulation; we will be safely raptured first.) -- Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar.

23The sun was risen upon the earth when Lot entered into Zoar.

>>24Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven; 25And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.

26But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

>> 30 And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters.

>> The angel of the Lord had already told Lot that he would not destroy the little town of Zoar, (verse 21 I will not overthrow this city) -- but Lot evidently didn't believe what he had said, he left the protected city of Zoar and ends up in a cave with his two daughters, the two daughters thought they were the only people that were left alive so they get Lot drunk and took turns laying with their father Lot, this is how the Ammonites and the Moabites came about.

>>The days of Sodom and Gomorrah are here again just like the Lord Jesus said in;

Luke 17:28-30 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; 29But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. 30Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.

>> The name that has been put on this sin from that day to this is sodomy. - People can call them "gays" or an alternate life style, if they like but the end result is total destruction.

Obama has declared the month of June to be the month to recognize the homosexuals; he goes to their conventions and makes speeches.-

* God has also made a speech hundreds of years ago;

>>Jude 7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

>>Leviticus 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

10And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; 11Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

* We believe these to be angels because we have the same thing in;

>> Matthew 28:2-3 And,behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. 3His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: **

>>John 20:11-12 But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the sepulchre, 12And seeth two angels in white sitting, ** the one at the head, and the other at the feet,

* Angels have greater wisdom than man;

2 Samuel 14:20-- and my lord is wise, according to the wisdom of an angel of God, to know all things that are in the earth.

>But angels are not all knowing;

Matt. 24:36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

* Angels never die;

>>Luke 20:36 Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.

Angels are not created in the image of God, therefore, they do not share man's glorious destiny of redemption in Christ. At the end of the age, redeemed man will be exalted above the angels.

> 1st Cor.6:3 Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life? --Fallen angels--
