Summary: Reminding God's People we are at War and we have an assignment to fulfill.

God’s Battle Axe

M. Moyer>> ( GREAT WORD ) From her devotional book

Today in my quiet time I found myself in Jeremiah 51:20.....

"You are My battle-ax and weapon of war, for with you I will break the Nations in pieces; with you I will destroy kingdoms....

God was speaking about Cyrus...He called him His battle-ax, His weapon of war...

Cyrus became an instrument of judgement against many nations and kingdoms, but particularly against Babylon... which had carried the tribes of Israel and Judah into captivity..

Cyrus had the heart and vision of a warrior...he knew he was to accomplish a divine mission in the earth....It was the time for Israel to be released from bondage and God worked through Cyrus to bring His plan to pass.....

In this day....God is fashioning another weapon of war....not formed by and through the life of one man or woman ....but by a company of warriors...raised up to take cities and nations and cause transformation in the earth....This great company...His warrior bride... His church....walking in revelation...clothed in anointing worshiping in holiness and moving in the rhythms of His grace....fully able to not just run.....but WIN the race....We will arise and release the captives and take Kingdom dominion and authority!

Jeremiah 51:20-23--Thou art my battle axe and weapons of war: for with thee will I break in pieces the nations, and with thee will I destroy kingdoms; And with thee will I break in pieces the horse and his rider; and with thee will I break in pieces the chariot and his rider; With thee also will I break in pieces man and woman; and with thee will I break in pieces old and young; and with thee will I break in pieces the young man and the maid; I will also break in pieces with thee the shepherd and his flock; and with thee will I break in pieces the husbandman and his yoke of oxen; and with thee will I break in pieces captains and rulers.

God is a warrior; the Man of war is His name.

Exodus 15:3--The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name.

Every warrior goes to battle with weapons of warfare trusted, effective and reliable. No warrior ever goes to battle without his weapons.

When God says that you are His battle axe, He is saying you are His weapon of warfare. He intends to fight battles through you.

A battle axe is anything in the hand of the warrior that is capable of bringing down the enemy.

God is saying with you in His hands, He can bring down any enemy.

When Moses was to go to Egypt to bring up the children of Israel

Moses felt very incapable and unqualified but this is what God said:

Ex 7:1--And the LORD said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh

This means that whatever God would have done by Himself to Pharaoh, He would do through Moses. Pharaoh did not see God but he saw God’s power working through Moses.

People should see the power of God in you as a child of God.

The world is a battle-field and it is a place of darkness.

Many Christians refuse to be the battle-axe of God.

You have an opportunity/choice of being God’s battle–axe or not.

The enemies of God are the arch-enemies of God’s children.

When you cannot get at a man, his children are the next target.

CHARACTERISTICS OF A GOOD BATTLE AXE

A good axe must be swift, sharp, strong and powerful.

God expects every Christian to be His battle-axe.

He will use you in destroying the kingdom of darkness.

CHARACTERISTICS OF GOD’S BATTLE AXE:

1. Must be SHARP:

What sharpens you as a child of God is the word of God.

When the word of God is rich in you, you will be a sharp axe.

The word of God can cut into pieces anything it lands upon.

With the word of God you can bring into captivity everything that exalts itself above the knowledge of God.

Hebrews 4:12--For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Matthew 21:44--And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.

The stone in the passage talks about the word of God.

Jeremiah 23:29--Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?

Isaiah 55:11--So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

2. Must be STRONG (rust free)

An axe must not get rusted; it becomes blunt and will not be able to chop anything. Rust in the life of a Christian, comes in many ways.

Galatians 6:9--And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

Joel 3:10--let the weak say, I am strong.

Luke 11:21--When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace:

Romans 4:20--He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;

1 Corinthians 16:13--Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.

Ephesians 6:10--Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

3.Must pass through FIRE

Psalm 97:3--A fire goeth before him, and burneth up his enemies round about.

An axe is made from metal; for it to get its shape, the metal-smith puts the metal in fire and hits hard on it, to shape it. So are we in the hands of God.

If you become God’s battle-axe, passing through the fire becomes non-negotiable. Passing through fire might not be pleasant but it makes a better vessel. Passing through fire can be trials, temptations, hardship

1 Corinthians 3:13--Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.

1 Peter 4:12--Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:

Psalm 104:4--Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire:

4. Must be POWERFUL

A person could be a battle-axe and then become blunt. He or she could be rendered invalid, if he or she is not careful. That person’s story will always be about the past. “in those days…”

Acts 1:8--But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you:

Romans 15:13--Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

2 Peter 1:3--According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

2 Corinthians 10:4--(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

WHY DOES GOD WANT YOU TO BE A BATTLE AXE?

1. To break nations into pieces.

2. To destroy the kingdom of darkness.

Being God’s battle-axe, takes more than church attendance.

Keep yourself sharp at all times. Remember:

Ecclesiastes 10:10--If the iron be blunt, and he do not whet the edge, then must he put to more strength: but wisdom is profitable to direct.

We will arise and release the captives and take Kingdom dominion and authority!

Spiritual warfare is a living reality in the life of every believer...In this day there is great contention between the forces of darkness and the Kingdom of light. We are born of His Spirit and we are more than able to enforce His plan in the earth...

Psalm 149:5-9 says this, "let the saints be joyful in glory, let them sing aloud on their beds, Let the high praise of God be in their mouth...,and a two edged sword in their hand...to execute vengeance upon the heathen, and punishment upon the people, to bind "their" kings with chains, and "their" nobles with fetters of iron....To execute upon them the judgement written: this honor have ALL saints...Praise the Lord!

The trumpet is sounding.... calling the army of God to arise...

We are being challenged to make ourselves ready for war..

to liberate the nations with the powerful message of the Kingdom...

We are not armed with the "natural weapons of war" but with the spiritual weapons...of praise and prayer and proclamation....

We do not fight against flesh and blood but principalities and powers and wickedness in high places!

There is a violent encounter taking place between heaven and hell right here in the earth...and we are God's weapons of war...

we are called of Him to rule and reign...to establish His Kingdom....

His Word and His principles....in ALL of the governmental regions of this world's systems...The earth IS the LORDS and the fullness thereof!!! Our citizenship and our government is NOT of this

world and our mission is to bring the rulership of heaven... and the government of heaven to earth....Lord let YOUR Kingdom come.....YOUR Will be done "in earth" as it is "in heaven"
