B. Audience: Theophilus (Greek means friend of GOD, a Christian)

C. Purpose: To give a connected and orderly narrative of the life of CHRIST as seen by eyewitnesses

VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. Evil Workers mentions eating

a. Eaten came from Greek word "fago" which is a verb meaning to eat

1. The Word of GOD benefits us if we are a doer and not just a listener. - the problem with evil workers is they do eat without faith.

Romans 14:23 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

But if you have doubts about whether or not you should eat something, you are sinning if you go ahead and do it. For you are not following your convictions. If you do anything you believe is not right, you are sinning.

2. Eating or not will not make us dirty.

Titus 1:15 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

Everything is pure to those whose hearts are pure. But nothing is pure to those who are corrupt and unbelieving, because their minds and consciences are corrupted.

3. Without faith it's impossible to please GOD.

Hebrews 11:6 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.

B. Evil workers mentions drinking

1. Drunk or drinking came from Greek word: "pino-pio-poo" meaning to drink (verb)

2. Because food and drink make us worry. (Matthew 6:25)

Matthew 6:25 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

“That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing?

3. Prioritize GOD's Rule in our hearts (GOD's Presence) and not food and drink. (Matthew 6:33)

Matthew 6:33 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

4. The people are eating perishable food and drink

Matthew 24:38 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

In those days before the flood, the people were enjoying banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat.

5. Eternal life is our priority here on earth not food and drink (John 6:26-27)

John 6:26-27 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, you want to be with me because I fed you, not because you understood the miraculous signs.

But don’t be so concerned about perishable things like food. Spend your energy seeking the eternal life that the Son of Man can give you. For God the Father has given me the seal of his approval.”

6. Be like JESUS, our food and drink is to do GOD's will (John 4:32-34)

John 4:32-34 (New International Version)

But he said to them, "I have food to eat that you know nothing about."

Then his disciples said to each other, "Could someone have brought him food?"

"My food," said Jesus, "is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.

7. If you gonna drink, prioritize the Spirit. (Ephesians 5:18)

Ephesians 5:18 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit,

C. The LORD will declare no knowledge of them.

1. knowledge came from Greek word "eido" meaning to perceive, to understand, to be sure

The LORD JESUS CHRIST can't perceive, understand and not sure of us.

The LORD JESUS CHRIST offered us grace and truth but instead we have chosen to work for it, therefore not of grace but of works.

2. The LORD JESUS CHRIST is full of grace and truth. (John 1:14)

John 1:14 (New International Version)

The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His Glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

3. Grace is personal (it came to our life) but law involved works (given) (John 1:17)

John 1:17 (New International Version)

For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

4. Grace needs to come by faith not by works. (Romans 4:16) Works is for the law.

Romans 4:16 (New International Version)

Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may be by grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham's offspring--not only to those who are of the law but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham. He is the father of us all.

5. We have access to grace thru faith. (Romans 5:2)

Romans 5:2 (New International Version)

through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.

6. We have been saved by grace thru faith not of ourselves (our works) (Ephesians 2:8)

Ephesians 2:8 (New International Version)

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--

IX. CONCLUSION:

Eating and drinking is common to man, therefore it symbolizes our daily activities, everything we do needs to glorify GOD by faith.

1 Corinthians 10:31 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

John 4:13-14 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

Jesus replied, “Anyone who drinks this water will soon become thirsty again.

But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.”

We can't do anything to credit us, it's all by grace thru faith expressing itself in love.

For example, if we are able to grasp that we are forgiven by grace on all our future sins, our correct response is to love GOD all the more not sin more.

Galatians 5:6 (New International Version)

For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.

Romans 6:15 (New International Version)

What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means!

Romans 5:15 (New International Version)

But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God's grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many!
