Tug of War John 10:27
1. There is a tug of war against Good and Evil
"How long will you waver between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him." 1 Kings 18:21
So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me.
Romans 7:21 Paul has a battle going on
A. There is a Tug of War between The Tempter and Jesus
Matthew 41Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil
2. There has been a Tug of War with God And Satan (Lucifer)
Isaiah 12 12How you have fallen from heaven, O morning star, son of the dawn! 14I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I
will make myself like the Most High." 15But you are brought down to the grave, to the depths of the pit.
Some claim Satan is a king of Tyre
Ezekiel 28:11 " `You were the model of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.
13You were in Eden, the garden of God; 15You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created
till wickedness was found in you. 17Your heart became proud on account of your beauty, and you corrupted your wisdom
because of your splendor. So I threw you to the earth; I made a spectacle of you before kings.
3. Now into the text hand, First, In order to win the tug of war the tuggers must listen to his voice
A. There are many voices to hear but the sheep hear one voice. 27My sheep listen to my voice
B. The voice the tuggers hear is the voice they are use to hearing it is the voice of their beloved
vs 4 sheep follow him because they know his voice.
C. The voice of the Shepherd is the rule of the sheep whatever he says we will do
5But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger's voice
4. Secondly, in order to win the tug of war the Tuggers must Follow Him
A. The sheep follow by submitting to the shepherds guidance It is a willing obedience to all his commands
B. The sheep follow by being conformed to his spirit and and pattern Take up thy cross and follow me
C. We follow him because our eyes are fastened on him, He is leader, captain, we walk as he walked, we
follow the lamb where ever he goes.
5. Thirdly, in order to win the tug of war there must be some unison chemistry camaraderie family the Shepherd knows the Tuggers
A. The Shepherd distinguishes his tuggers from others .
2 Timothy 2:19Nevertheless, God's solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: "The Lord knows
those who are his,"
B. The unison the shepherd has, is a particular regard for every Tugger. Jesus Care he cares for you
Psalm 34: 6This poor man (one without resources that affect his own deliverence, and so is totally
dependent on God) called, and the LORD heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles.
7The angel of the LORD encamps around those
C. Yes Jesus offers us as His very own Family .
28I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. 29My Father, who has given them to me,
is greater than allD; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand.
D. the battle has been won at Calvary we are the victors and now the estate is given to the tuggers
. We are given from the Donor the fountain of life
.John 17:2For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him.
Jesus says none of his tuggers shall perish, Satan cant pluck them out ,
How big are his hands big enough to create the heavens and earth His hands big enough to sustain our salvation?
6. Finally His hands are Big enough to hurl The accuser of the brethren, The Prince of this world, Lucifer, the false prophet,
Apollyon, Beelzebub, Slanderer, Diablos, Devil, The Enemy, The one who leads the world astray, The Father of lies,
The Murderer, The God of this age, the ancient serpent, Ruler of the Kingdom of the Air, Satan is hurled as a result
of the battle loss.
Rev 1210Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: "Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God,
and the authority of his Christ. For the accuser of our brothers, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down.
