JOB AS A MAN OF GOD
Introduction:
The book of Job has no concrete evidence that Job wrote it while it is possible that may Job written it. Job means “hated” or “the much persecuted.” Perhaps “Job” was a nickname his friends gave him during his suffering.
Three things to consider in Job’s life as a man of God.
Body:
1. JOB WAS A MAN WHO FEARED GOD (V.1).
a. Blameless – Perfect
b. Upright – strictly honorable or honest
2. JOB WAS THE GREATEST OF ALL MEN OF THE EAST (V.3).
Job has:
a. Seven thousand sheep (food and clothing)
b. Three thousand camels ( use for wars and caravans)(trucks and buses)
c. Five hundred yoke of “oxen” - simply a cow or a bull (he devoted himself in cultivation of the soil)
d. Five hundred of “she asses” – a horse family, smaller than a horse and with longer ears. In general use it is a donkey. (use to ride on)(slow but very sure footed)
3. JOB WAS THE PRIEST OF HIS FAMILY (V.5).
a. Job sanctified them
- Job pray for their sanctification
- He gave them rules and instructions about holiness
b. Job offered burnt offering
- Expiation of sin
- Office of the priest
4. JOB BLESS THE LORD EVEN IN DARKEST PART OF HIS LIFE (VV. 13-22).
a. God allows Satan to take away Job’s possessions (vv. 13-17).
b. God permitted Satan to put to death his love ones (vv. 18-19).
c. Job worshiped the Lord in spite of his suffering (v. 20).
d. Job recognized the authority of God in everything (vv.21-22).
Conclusion:
Being a man of God means, you have the fear of God, because, the Bible says “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of all wisdom”. The same wisdom coming from God will make you a great person, you will discern what is for the Lord. Then, you will bless the Lord even in darkness part of your life same as well Job did for the Lord.
