I. EXORDIUM:

Are you foolish?

II. AUDIENCE PROFILE:

Believers

III. OBJECTIVES:

To show foolishness starts when grace ends.

IV. TEXT:

Galatians 3:3 (The Living Bible)

Then have you gone completely crazy? For if trying to obey the Jewish laws never gave you spiritual life in the first place, why do you think that trying to obey them now will make you stronger Christians?

V. THESIS:

Foolishness starts when grace ends.

VI. TITLE:

Foolish Christians

D. To whom written: Galatia church

E. Main theme: Magna charta of the church

F. Keywords: faith, grace, liberty, the cross

VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. Those who begin with the SPIRIT

"Then have you gone completely crazy? For if trying to obey the Jewish laws never gave you spiritual life in the first place"

Do you remember when you first got born again? It's all Amazing Grace, then afterwards, people just tried to shove in man-made rules into you, like read the word, pray everyday, go to church every Sunday, then it's back to works to please GOD. Why not start with the SPIRIT and live with HIM thru Eternity which has no end?

Acts 10:44 (Amplified Bible)

While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all who were listening to the message.

Acts 19:6-7 (Amplified Bible)

And as Paul laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them; and they spoke in [foreign, unknown] tongues (languages) and prophesied.

There were about twelve of them in all.

The SPIRIT leads, we can only talk the message and the HOLY SPIRIT will handle it from there, there has to be a hearing of the Word of GOD, then it all works by GRACE.

B. Those who attain their goal by human effort

"why do you think that trying to obey them now will make you stronger Christians?"

Matthew 24:12 (Amplified Bible)

And the love of the great body of people will grow cold because of the multiplied lawlessness and iniquity,

Galatians 4:9 (Amplified Bible)

Now, however, that you have come to be acquainted with and understand and know [the true] God, or rather to be understood and known by God, how can you turn back again to the weak and beggarly and worthless elementary things [of all religions before Christ came], whose slaves you once more want to become?

Hebrews 10:38 (Amplified Bible)

But the just shall live by faith [My righteous servant shall live by his conviction respecting man’s relationship to God and divine things, and holy fervor born of faith and conjoined with it]; and if he draws back and shrinks in fear, My soul has no delight or pleasure in him.

Galatians 3:5-6 (Amplified Bible)

Then does He Who supplies you with His marvelous [Holy] Spirit and works powerfully and miraculously among you do so on [the grounds of your doing] what the Law demands, or because of your believing in and adhering to and trusting in and relying on the message that you heard?

Thus Abraham believed in and adhered to and trusted in and relied on God, and it was reckoned and placed to his account and credited as righteousness (as conformity to the divine will in purpose, thought, and action).

IX. CONCLUSION:

Man left to himself will always be man-made. Grace left to itself will draw us near GOD and more of HIS GRACE.

Romans 5:17 (Amplified Bible)

For if because of one man’s trespass (lapse, offense) death reigned through that one, much more surely will those who receive [God’s] overflowing grace (unmerited favor) and the free gift of righteousness [putting them into right standing with Himself] reign as kings in life through the one Man Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).
