Summary: The veil over the entrance to the Holy of Holies is what kept God in & the priests out. The veil, we know represents Jesus’ flesh that was torn to remove the Jewish priesthood and allow us to enter God’s Presence.

The Veil

31 "You shall make a veil of blue and purple and scarlet material and fine twisted linen; it shall be made with cherubim, the work of a skillful workman.32 "You shall hang it on four pillars of acacia overlaid with gold, their hooks also being of gold, on four sockets of silver.33 "You shall hang up the veil under the clasps, and shall bring in the ark of the testimony there within the veil; and the veil shall serve for you as a partition between the holy place and the holy of holies. Ex 26:31-33 (NASB)

35 Moreover, he made the veil of blue and purple and scarlet material, and fine twisted linen; he made it with cherubim, the work of a skillful workman. Ex 36:35 (NASB)

1 The veil over the entrance to the Holy of Holies is what kept God in & the priests out.

a The veil was 60ft long, 30ft wide, 4" - 18" thick, & heavy. (Took 300 men to hang)

aa Contained the colors blue/heaven, gold/glory, red/sacrifice, purple/royal.

bb 19 Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus,20 by a new and living way which He inaugurated for us through the veil, that is, His flesh, Heb 10:19-20 (NASB)

b The images of Cherubim were embroidered on the veil.

aa Cherubim are not pudgy little toddlers with wings holding bows & arrows.

bb “5 Within it there were figures resembling four living beings. And this was their appearance: they had human form. 6 Each of them had four faces and four wings.” Ezek. 1.5-6 (NASB)

2 Early Israel history, their cherubim were the divine chariot, the bearers of God’s throne on earth.

a As the priests ministered in the Tabernacle, they did so under the watchful eyes of the Cherubim.

b It reminded them of the privilege, honor, holiness of the service they offered before the One True God.

aa Cherubim protect His Glory, Presence.

bb This were angelic beings of the highest order; Sword wielding warriors.

3 The veil, we know represents Jesus’ flesh that was torn to remove the Jewish priesthood and allow us to enter God’s Presence.

a Angels, I’m assuming some Cherubim, were active in the earthly ministry of Jesus.

aa One announced the forthcoming birth of Jesus to Joseph

20 But when he had considered this, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife; for the Child who has been conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.21 "She will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins." Matt 1:20-21 (NASB)

bb Again, an angel warned Joseph to escape to Egypt in order to keep Jesus from being killed by Herod.

12 And having been warned by God in a dream not to return to Herod, the magi left for their own country by another way. Matt 2:12 (NASB)

cc After Jesus fasted 40 days and nights and was tempted by Satan, angels brought him food and ministered to him.

11 Then the devil left Him; and behold, angels came and began to minister to Him. Matt 4:11 (NASB)

dd They were present at the tomb where Jesus lay and they rolled back the stone to release him.

2 And behold, a severe earthquake had occurred, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled away the stone and sat upon it Matt 28:2 (NASB)

b 43 Now an angel from heaven appeared to Him, strengthening Him. Luke 22:43 (NASB)

aa As the veil is in the garden, being torn emotionally in two before being torn physically, an angel of the Lord once again appears before the veil!

bb All the shadows cast their image on the Christ.

4 Next week, you will be serving before the Throne of God.

a You will be operating in your calling, ministry, for His glory.

b I have a word that some of you may be see angels.

aa Be looking, be receptive, be open, be ready.

bb 2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. Heb 13:2 (KJV)

c 11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. 12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. 13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet. 14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. Psalms 91:11-14 (KJV)

aa He has given us the biggest, baddest angels in heaven to guard our path!

bb The King of Angels has our back!
