VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. They brought the colt to JESUS

"And they brought the colt to Jesus"

Zechariah 9:9 (Amplified Bible)

9:9 Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O Daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King comes to you; He is [uncompromisingly] just and having salvation [triumphant and victorious], patient, meek, lowly, and riding on a donkey, upon a colt, the foal of a donkey.

Matthew 21:4-5 (Amplified Bible)

21:4 This happened that what was spoken by the prophet might be fulfilled, saying,

21:5 Say to the Daughter of Zion [inhabitants of Jerusalem], Behold, your King is coming to you, lowly and riding on a donkey, and on a colt, the foal of a donkey [a beast of burden].

Luke 19:35 (Amplified Bible)

19:35 And they brought it to Jesus; then they threw their garments over the colt and set Jesus upon it.

B. They threw their outer garments upon the colt

"and threw their outer garments upon it,"

The spreading of garments represents royal homage.

... like in the case of Jehu, the king.

2 Kings 9:13 (Amplified Bible)

9:13 Then they hastily took every man his garment and put it [for a cushion] under Jehu on the top of the [outside] stairs, and blew with trumpets, saying, Jehu is king!

Homage means the following:

1. In feudal law, the submission, loyalty and service which a tenant promised to his lord or superior, when first admitted to the land which he held of him in fee; or rather the act of the tenant in making this submission, on being invested with the fee. The ceremony of doing homage was thus performed. The tenant, being ungirt and uncovered, kneeled and held up both his hands between those of the lord, who sat before him, and there professed that "he did become his man, from that day forth, of life and limb and earthly honor," and then received a kiss from his lord.

2. Obeisance; respect paid by external action.

Go, go, with homage yon proud victors meet.

3. Reverence directed to the Supreme Being; reverential worship; devout affection.

4. To pay respect to by external action; to give reverence to; to profess fealty.

C. The LORD JESUS sat on the colt

"and He sat on it"

Sat - meaning to settle down, continue, set, sit, tarry, hover, dwell

CHRIST JESUS needs to dwell inside of us.

Usage of the word "sat":

"Sat" was used to reign and rule sitting on a throne.

Matthew 19:28 (Amplified Bible)

19:28 Jesus said to them, Truly I say to you, in the new age [the Messianic rebirth of the world], when the Son of Man shall sit down on the throne of His glory, you who have [become My disciples, sided with My party and] followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones and judge the twelve tribes of Israel.

Revelation 3:21 (Amplified Bible)

3:21 He who overcomes (is victorious), I will grant him to sit beside Me on My throne, as I Myself overcame (was victorious) and sat down beside My Father on His throne.

The word "sat" have an idea of sitting on Glory having all things overcame and done, the last thing to do by a ruler, lord or king is to "sit" on his/her power on the throne.

Colossians 3:23 (Amplified Bible)

3:23 Whatever may be your task, work at it heartily (from the soul), as [something done] for the Lord and not for men,

Colossians 3:15 (Amplified Bible)

3:15 And let the peace (soul harmony which comes) from Christ rule (act as umpire continually) in your hearts [deciding and settling with finality all questions that arise in your minds, in that peaceful state] to which as [members of Christ’s] one body you were also called [to live]. And be thankful (appreciative), [giving praise to God always].

IX. CONCLUSION:

We come to the altar at the feet of JESUS, we acknowledge GOD in our hearts and let CHRIST rule and reign in our hearts.
