Mark 10:45 (Amplified Bible)

10:45 For even the Son of Man came not to have service rendered to Him, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for (instead of) many.

VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. He went to Jerusalem and entered the temple

"And Jesus went into Jerusalem and entered the temple [enclosure];"

The Messiah will suddenly come to His Temple. It was indeed a surprise for the people with Him in the Triumphal Entry, they thought he's a political king who will destroy the Roman Empire that day but in the opposite entered the Temple.

It was a fulfillment of two prophecies in the Old Testament.

Malachi 3:1 (Amplified Bible)

3:1 BEHOLD, I send My messenger, and he shall prepare the way before Me. And the Lord [the Messiah], Whom you seek, will suddenly come to His temple; the Messenger or Angel of the covenant, Whom you desire, behold, He shall come, says the Lord of hosts.

Haggai 2:7 (Amplified Bible)

2:7 And I will shake all nations and the desire and the precious things of all nations shall come in, and I will fill this house with splendor, says the Lord of hosts.

CHRIST suddenly entered the temple. It was a surprise. The Bible said CHRIST entered "instantly", "straightway", "sudden", because majority of the people with Him are confusing Him as coming as their political king, that's why when they were frustrated by CHRIST's move, they forced Him to be king on another event.

John 6:15 (Amplified Bible)

6:15 Then Jesus, knowing that they meant to come and seize Him that they might make Him king, withdrew again to the hillside by Himself alone.

They were surprised because CHRIST wanted to rule in their hearts.

Luke 17:21 (Amplified Bible)

17:21 Nor will people say, Look! Here [it is]! or, See, [it is] there! For behold, the kingdom of God is within you [in your hearts] and among you [surrounding you].

B. He looked around

"and when He had looked around, surveying and observing everything, as it was already late,"

Ezekiel 8:9 (Amplified Bible)

8:9 And He said to me, Go in and see the wicked abominations that they do here.

Zephaniah 1:12 (Amplified Bible)

1:12 And at that time I will search Jerusalem with lamps and punish the men who [like old wine] are thickening and settling on their lees, who say in their hearts, The Lord will not do good, nor will He do evil.

It was again a fulfillment of the prophecies from the Old Testament.

But in this Chapter 11 of Gospel of Mark it was not mentioned that JESUS drove out all who buy and sell inside the Temple.

Matthew 21:12 (Amplified Bible)

21:12 And Jesus went into the temple (whole temple enclosure) and drove out all who bought and sold in the sacred place, and He turned over the four-footed tables of the money changers and the chairs of those who sold doves.

Luke 19:45 (Amplified Bible)

19:45 Then He went into the temple [enclosure] and began to drive out those who were selling,

On Mark, we can see JESUS entered the temple twice on this Triumphal Entry and on the second entry, He drove away the merchants out of the Temple.

Mark 11:15 (Amplified Bible)

11:15 And they came to Jerusalem. And He went into the temple [area, the porches and courts] and began to drive out those who sold and bought in the temple area, and He overturned the [four-footed] tables of the money changers and the seats of those who dealt in doves;

Because at the first entry, He was giving them a chance.

"... He had looked around, surveying and observing everything, as it was already late,"

CHRIST's Kindness as GOD will always lead us to change our mind toward ourselves, sin and GOD.

Romans 2:4 (Amplified Bible)

2:4 Or are you [so blind as to] trifle with and presume upon and despise and underestimate the wealth of His kindness and forbearance and long-suffering patience? Are you unmindful or actually ignorant [of the fact] that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repent (to change your mind and inner man to accept God’s will)?

C. He went out to Bethany with the Twelve

"He went out to Bethany together with the Twelve [apostles]."

Bethany being defined as "house of misery" from the Greek word, connoting JESUS and His Twelve apostles experienced misery again after cleansing the Temple. We will no longer experience misery because CHRIST has finished His work on earth. But nowadays, to those disobedient members of the church, the leaders (12 Apostles) are experiencing misery while they pray for these people to change their minds.

The Church nowadays are experiencing misery because of the following:

Rich people:

James 5:1 (Amplified Bible)

5:1 COME NOW, you rich [people], weep aloud and lament over the miseries (the woes) that are surely coming upon you.

Unconverted sinners:

Romans 3:16 (New Century Version)

3:16 Everywhere they go they cause ruin and misery.

But CHRIST took it all, we have to have faith in His finished work.

Galatians 3:13 (Amplified Bible)

3:13 Christ purchased our freedom [redeeming us] from the curse (doom) of the Law [and its condemnation] by [Himself] becoming a curse for us, for it is written [in the Scriptures], Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree (is crucified);

2 Corinthians 5:21 (Amplified Bible)

5:21 For our sake He made Christ [virtually] to be sin Who knew no sin, so that in and through Him we might become [endued with, viewed as being in, and examples of] the righteousness of God [what we ought to be, approved and acceptable and in right relationship with Him, by His goodness].

CHRIST became sin for us so we can be made the righteousness of GOD.

Compare Lamentations 3:19

Lamentations 3:19 (Amplified Bible)

3:19 [O Lord] remember [earnestly] my affliction and my misery, my wandering and my outcast state, the wormwood and the gall.

with Matthew 27:34

Matthew 27:34 (Amplified Bible)

27:34 They offered Him wine mingled with gall to drink; but when He tasted it, He refused to drink it.

IX. CONCLUSION:

He needs to enter the Temple (our bodies) to cleanse it, He experienced miseries and became sin so we are made GOD's righteousness.

1 Corinthians 6:19 (Amplified Bible)

6:19 Do you not know that your body is the temple (the very sanctuary) of the Holy Spirit Who lives within you, Whom you have received [as a Gift] from God? You are not your own,
