Mark 10:45 (Amplified Bible)

10:45 For even the Son of Man came not to have service rendered to Him, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for (instead of) many.

VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. The religious leaders replied "We do not know"

"So they replied to Jesus, We do not know."

In the Greek, it's closer to "We cannot tell you.", somehow they do know it from the start but won't accept their defeat from JESUS because of unbelief to Him.

Isaiah 1:3 (The Message)

1:3 The ox knows who's boss, the mule knows the hand that feeds him, But not Israel. My people don't know up from down.

Hosea 4:6 (The Message)

4:6 My people are ruined because they don't know what's right or true. Because you've turned your back on knowledge, I've turned my back on you priests. Because you refuse to recognize the revelation of God, I'm no longer recognizing your children.

Matthew 15:14 (The Message)

15:14 Forget them. They are blind men leading blind men. When a blind man leads a blind man, they both end up in the ditch."

JESUS advised us what to do with these "know-it-all" religious leaders of our day, just let them be, or forget them, they're not teachable or open-minded.

Proverbs 14:6 (The Message)

14:6 Cynics look high and low for wisdom—and never find it; the open-minded find it right on their doorstep!

B. JESUS said to them, "Neither am I going to tell you"

"And Jesus said to them, Neither am I going to tell you what [sort of] authority I have for doing these things."

JESUS knew that their worldly wisdom won't win over GOD's.

1 Corinthians 1:25 (The Message)

1:25 Human wisdom is so tinny, so impotent, next to the seeming absurdity of God. Human strength can't begin to compete with God's "weakness."

Job 5:13 (The Message)

5:13 He catches the know-it-alls in their conspiracies— all that intricate intrigue swept out with the trash!

Proverbs 26:4-5 (The Message)

26:4 Don't respond to the stupidity of a fool; you'll only look foolish yourself.

26:5 Answer a fool in simple terms so he doesn't get a swelled head.

JESUS won't answer them as well, because they are fools, in their hearts they rejected the idea of GOD.

Psalms 14:1 (Amplified Bible)

14:1 To the Chief Musician. [A Psalm] of David. THE [empty-headed] fool has said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable deeds; there is none that does good or right.

And since to them, there's no GOD, they won't do anything right.

IX. CONCLUSION:

JESUS is our Wisdom from GOD.

1 Corinthians 1:30 (The Message)

1:30 Everything that we have—right thinking and right living, a clean slate and a fresh start—comes from God by way of Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 1:30 (Amplified Bible)

1:30 But it is from Him that you have your life in Christ Jesus, Whom God made our Wisdom from God, [revealed to us a knowledge of the divine plan of salvation previously hidden, manifesting itself as] our Righteousness [thus making us upright and putting us in right standing with God], and our Consecration [making us pure and holy], and our Redemption [providing our ransom from eternal penalty for sin].
