Summary: Except the Lord build the house – we labor in vain. Except the Lord build the life – we labor in vain.

Quotes:

“There isn't any such thing as an ordinary life.” ― L.M. Montgomery

“The only way that we can live, is if we grow. The only way that we can grow is if we change. The only way that we can change is if we learn.” ― C. JoyBell

“We cannot change anything if we cannot change our thinking.” ― Santosh Kalwar

“Happiness is not the absence of problems, it's the ability to deal with them.” ― Steve Maraboli

Psalm 127:1 “1- Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.”

Except the Lord build the house – you labor in vain.

Except the Lord build the life – you labor in vain.

Our Lord is a Master builder.

Story: (4x2).

You wouldn’t want this guy building your house.

You would want a master builder.

And you need the master builder building your life.

We are all building a life; and a major part of that life is spiritual.

It takes a lot of lumber, time and effort to build a house;

And so it is when building your spiritual house.

Some good advice to all here today would be to Live to make a life, not a living and in so doing make a life that is pleasing to God.

You might ask the question: How, how can I make life worth living and pleasing unto God?

It is simple really and the Apostle Paul summed it up quick nicely in

I Corinthians 10:31 “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”

And without doubt it is very important that we live a life that is honorable and pleasing unto God as we all will someday stand before the judgment “seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.” According to II Corinthians 5:6-10.

That’s it! We live to please the Lord in life! And since we will eventually appear before the Lord it only makes good sense to seek to please Him in all of life.

“Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is.” -Ephesians 5:15-17

‘15 Por tanto, tened cuidado cómo andáis; no como insensatos, sino como sabios, 16 aprovechando bien el tiempo, porque los días son malos. 17 Así pues, no seáis necios, sino entended cuál es la voluntad del Señor.” - Efesios 5:15-17

Use every opportunity you are afforded to honor and serve the Lord.

There is much evil in our world today.

“For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God;” -Colossians 1:9-10

“9 Por esta razón, también nosotros, desde el día que lo supimos, no hemos cesado de orar por vosotros y de rogar que seáis llenos del conocimiento de su voluntad en toda sabiduría y comprensión espiritual, 10 para que andéis como es digno del Señor, agradándole en todo, dando fruto en toda buena obra y creciendo en el conocimiento de Dios; “-Colosenses 1:9-10

We “must” live a life worthy to the Lord of all creation.

We belong to Him and we owe our very existence to Him.

We should have a strong desire to server Him and honor Him in every way: in our marriage, our children, our work, our everything.

Story: (Fried from every job… but not a quitter).

Don’t ever be a quitter; don’t give up on life, because God hasn’t given up on you!

Work hard, do your best and let God build your house/life.

“Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain.”

“Si el Señor no edifica la casa, en vano trabajan los que la edifican;

I don’t want us to do anything in vain in life.

I want God to touch everything we do.

I want Him to bless everything that we do to His glory.

We should be living for His glory and honor and praise!

The way we live and love life (life that is pleasing unto God) should be an example to all around us.

Our lives should lead other to Christ!

I want to bring to your remembrance some words from an old book: “What shall it profit a man if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” -Matthew 16:26

“Pues ¿qué provecho obtendrá un hombre si gana el mundo entero, pero pierde su alma? O ¿qué dará un hombre a cambio de su alma?” – Mateo 16:26

A compass is only as good as it is accurate. Make sure the compass you are using to navigate your life is the Word of God, which always points “true north” toward Jesus;

Because Life is vain/empty without the Lord.

Let the Lord build your life today!
