Summary: God has all kinds of emotions. He even laughs. The matters that make Him laugh are no joking matter.

Making God Laugh or Chuckles in the Highest

We know that God has feelings and emotions.

Hebrews 4:15

15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. (KJV)

(RVG04)

1. He cries--Jesus wept---John 11:35

2. He can be offended or "put out"---1 Ts. 5:19 "quench not the Spirit"

3. The Lord gets mad--Mr. 11:15 -overthrew the tables of the moneychangers

Ps. 7:11

11 God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day. {judgeth...: or, is a righteous judge} (KJV)

(RVG04)

4. He is compassionate--

Ps. 86:15

15 But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth. (KJV)

5. God loves---1 Co. 13

6. God gets jealous--

Dt. 5:9

9 Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me, (KJV)

7. The Lord feels joy--He delights

Ps. 18:19

19 He brought me forth also into a large place; he delivered me, because he delighted in me. (KJV)

(RVG04)

8. And sometimes God even laughs

Luke 12:16-21

16 And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: (KJV)

17 And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? (KJV)

(RVG04)

18 And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. (KJV)

19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. (KJV)

19 y diré a mi alma: Alma, muchos bienes tienes almacenados para muchos años; repósate, come, bebe, regocíjate. (RVG04)

20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? (KJV)

(RVG04)

21 So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God. (KJV)

(RVG04)

If God has a sense of humour, then He must have a good laugh when any person starts to tell Him all about their own plans for life.

James 4:13-16

13 Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: (KJV)

13 ¡Vamos ahora!

14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. (KJV)

(RVG04)

15 For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. (KJV)

(RVG04)

16 But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil. (KJV)

16 Mas ahora os jactáis en vuestras soberbias. Toda jactancia semejante es mala. (RVG04)

Prov. 1:23-26

23 Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you. (KJV)

23 Volveos a mi reprensión: He aquí yo os derramaré mi espíritu, y os haré saber mis palabras. (RVG04)

24 Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded; (KJV)

24 Porque llamé, y no quisisteis oír: Extendí mi mano, y no hubo quien atendiese; (RVG04)

25 But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof: (KJV)

25 antes desechasteis todo consejo mío, y mi reprensión no quisisteis: (RVG04)

26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh; (KJV)

Ps. 2:1-4

Ps. 37:12,13

Ps. 59:5-8

I. God laughs at Man's attempt for Fame

The Tower of Babel----Gen. 11:1-9

Gen. 11:4

4 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. (KJV)

(RVG04)

We see here a vain goal in which God is not pleased, and the Lord gets the last laugh.

II. The Humor of Man's Riches

Lk. 12:16-21

This businessman thought that his riches would put him in control for a long time.

He was lifted up in pride.

If man could only put his confidence in the Lord for every provision.

III. The Joke of Man's Power Grab

Acts 8:9-24

Simon the Sorcer

He wanted to be known for having power.

There was a spirit in him that was akin to his master, the devil. Lucifer tried a power grab at one time also. It cost him everything, and he still holds a grudge and is trying to get even.

God laughs at the futile attempts of those who seek power for personal benefit.

It is not a sadistic laugh, nor is it hedious; but it is just too amusing to God to consider that man thinks he can pull one over on the Almighty.

1 Peter 2:15

15 For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men: (KJV)

(RVG04)

Don't become a laughing matter unto God. Find the place where you can laugh with God for the joy and the hope that He gives to those who follow His Word in obedience.
