Summary: Prayer is the only answer for the myriad woes in our life, uncertainties, insecurities, sickness, failures, discouragement and delays.

No Rock like our God!

1Samuel 2:2 There is none holy as the LORD: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God.

Hannah’s husband Elkanah loved her immensely and told her: “Am I not better to you than ten sons?"(1 Samuel 1:8) As long as Hannah depended on her husband to comfort and console her, she remained in misery. But one day, she got up and went into the presence of God and poured out her heart at the feet of the Lord. Praise God! She wrestled with God in prayer and she came out delivered from her anguish and pain. The Bible says: “…..her face was no longer sad. “( 1 Samuel 1:18) You receive power in His presence! The more time you spend at His feet, the more charged and energetic you become. That’s the secret of prayer! The woman who was weeping and mourning, is now able to sing prophetic praises unto the Lord. Having found the Lord a great refuge and stronghold, Hannah declares: “there is no other Rock like Him!” Wow! What a declaration!

Friends, having daringly walked out of a secured multinational bank, as a young mother of two children, to serve the Lord in full time service; after several years, I can now firmly and strongly say, “there is no other Rock like Him!” He has never let me down!

I want to quote here what Rev. Billy Graham said about prayer: “Prayer is communicating. A baby’s first response is to his parents. What a thrill that response brings to the entire family. In the same way, imagine the joy that our first response to God brings to him. The devil will fight us every step of the way. There will be many interruptions, but we need to keep at it and not become discouraged. Soon we will find that these periods of prayer are the greatest delight of our lives. “

Time spent in prayer determines your success in life. Mark 1:35 says “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. “ Jesus never allowed anyone to distract Him from His agenda, you cannot save time. You cannot collect it and place it in a special bank vault. You are only permitted by God to spend it, either wisely or foolishly. Are you listening? But like it or not, you must do something with time. You will invest it or you will waste it by the choices you make. Ecclesiastes 8:5”…… wise heart will know the proper time and procedure.”

After preaching in the morning service at Church and after all the counseling, praying and discussions, I reached home bushed and depleted; was it over? Not yet. I had work to do at home. After lunch, it was a delicious time to snuggle into the bed and take rest. I chose to pray, not easy, though – I opted to crucify my flesh and pray. I had several pending issues that can be only resolved through prayer. I feel refreshed now! Praise God! Prayer is the only answer for the myriad woes in our life, uncertainties, insecurities, sickness, failures, discouragement and delays.

Having experienced the wonderful protection and provision of God in the wilderness and the caves where he dwelt, David is able to sing in Psalm 18: 31”For who is God, except the LORD? And who is a rock, except our God?”
