Summary: We need to finish the race of life strong and not crawling to the finish line. This lesson will teach us how to do that.

Do you view God as a God that is waiting for you to slip up so He can drop the other foot or do you view God as a God of Mercy and Grace?

First of all we have to quit working for the world and work for the Lord.

The world loves us for our last deal. The saying “What have you done for me lately?” is now more true than ever. That is why it’s never enough.

So what does God want of us? The greatest commandment Jesus says is found in

Matthew 22:37 “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment.”

How many of us are consumed with fear of our job, our success, our status and our retirement? The Bible says that God is in control of ALL THINGS.

Ephesians 1:11,12 "In him we were also chosen,e having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will,12in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory."

No matter how crafty, how hard we work or how political we play the game. If God wants you to have something you will get it. If He wants to keep it from you then working 100 hours a week and playing all the political games will never be enough,

Now that we know who is in control, what do we do? We need to work the hardest we can with the best of the abilities (Talents) that the Lord has given us. That is our part. BUT before we do that we need to love the Lord with all our heart, soul and mind.

If you were to start today by reading Gods word, praying and asking for God to humble you He will. Brokenness and humbleness are necessary for us to follow Jesus. We can’t follow when we are not humble or arrogant. Let’s say your focus is on acquiring things. Once you start loving the Lord with all your heart, soul and mind then and only then will your perception of the things of this world change. It is tough to love the Lord and still want to keep acquiring. Let me make this clear, God desires that we have nice things, BUT not at the expense of putting Him in second place.

The only way to get off the acquiring, performance mode is to love Jesus with all your heart, soul and mind. Remember, the Christian walk is a marathon, not a sprint. In any marathon to run a great race to need to run the last 13.1 miles faster than the first 13.1 miles. That is called "Negative Splits". Please pray that you can finish this life IN the power of the Lord; STRONG and not crawling to the finish line. Start by praying and reading Gods word. Ask the Lord to help you in whatever area you are struggling with.

Wouldn’t it be nice not to owe anyone and be debt free and I am not just talking about money. Jesus paid a horrible price for us so we could not be slaves of sin. Don’t let the world and the evil one entrap you into thinking success is in things. True success is in knowing Jesus and then loving others UNCONDITIONALLY.

Have a great weekend.
