13 And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them?

14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said , Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.

John 8:57-59

57 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?

58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

59 Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by .

Introduction:

Deuteronomy 7:7-9

7 The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people:

8 But because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

9 Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;

He has chosen us as His people

He has called us out

He has made a covenant with us!

1. I Am Love

Quite possibly the greatest attribute of God is his love toward us

-All of these qualities weave together to make this mighty God who He is

2. Who Does God Love?

John 3:14-17

14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:

15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

For God so loved the world...

Gr. word translated World- can mean

-Age: “Love not the world, neither the things of the world, for if any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him”

-Planet: “This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.”

-Inhabitants: as in John 3:16

-This is an inclusive term that includes all of mankind, human race, inhabitants of the earth

-Every human soul is a special treasure to God

God’s Love Is Unconditional

Human love is conditional

-We have not done anything to deserve this love

-It is an unconditional love

Romans 5:6-8

6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die .

8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

-Altho we have all sinned and come short of the glory of God, He loved all while we were yet sinners!

-If He loves us unconditionally, it means that when we mess up, we cannot lose out on God’s love!

Luke 15:4-7

4 What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?

5 And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing .

6 And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost .

7 I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth , more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.

-God loves all failures who have struggled and given in to sin

-God loves all the fallen, the weak, the poor, the destitute.

-God’s love is for those who we think we are good, and those who we think are bad

-God’s love is for those who we think deserve another chance, and for those who we don’t think deserve another chance

-Bc our righteousness if filthy rags and we didn’t deserve it to begin with!

-Jesus says in Revelation, Behold I stand at the door, and knock : if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

-He is no respector of persons! God’s love is for all!

-If you still have breath in your body, you still have an opportunity to run back home!

How Much Does God Love Us?

1. He Loved Us Enough To Become One Of Us

God came into the world!

Immanuel, God with us!

What an breathtaking thought

We had no hope, the sin of mankind was only being rolled forward, like a creditor, allowing a higher debt limit

Every year, the sin was being rolled ahead, with no hope in sight

The human race was cursed with sin

And a holy God would have to enter into this humanity to redeem it

Philippians 2:6-8

6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

2. He Loved Us Enough To Die For Us

Amazing love, how could it be that you my King, should die for me?

John 10:11-17

11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.

12 But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming , and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth : and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.

13 The hireling fleeth , because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.

14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.

15 As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.

16 And other sheep I have , which are not of this fold: them also I must bring , and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.

17 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.

3. He Loved Us Enough To Redeem Us

Exodus 6:7 And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God: and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God, which bringeth you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians

He has brought us out of the bondage of sin!

4. He Loves Us Enough To Prepare A Place For Us

John 14:1-3

1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am , there ye may be also.

Love Others as Christ Has Loved Us

Bc of this love we are commanded...

John 15:12-17

12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth : but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain : that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

17 These things I command you, that ye love one another.

1 John 4:7-10

7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

Since God is Love and

God lives in the hearts of His people, then

love should dwell in our hearts

Where there is no love, then

it is evident that God’s spirit is not inhabitating

The love in our hearts is not merely human love,

but it is God’s love

When you truly experience the love of God in your life,

it will flow through!

He has loved us!

We must let His love flow thru!

Conclusion:

In awe of His love toward us

I say thank you!
