Message Point: Jesus commands us to share the Gospel.

Focus Passage: Matthew 28:18-20

Supplemental Passage: How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, "HOW BEAUTIFUL ARE THE FEET OF THOSE WHO BRING GOOD NEWS OF GOOD THINGS!" (Ro 10:14-15)

Introduction: Talk about the thought process going on in personal decision to participate in missions.

I. Make Excuses Like Moses (Exodus 3 & 4)

a. Who am I?

b. Who are you?

c. What if?

d. I don’t talk so good.

e. Send someone else.

II. Run Away Like Jonah

a. “To to Ninevah”

b. Jonah went to Tarshish

c. Spent three days in the belly of the whale

d. Went to Ninevah anyway

III. Obey Like Paul

a. Went to Greece, Turkey, Italy

b. Arrested, imprisoned and flogged

c. Shipwrecked and adrift at sea

d. Tradition says he was beheaded in Rome

Application/Invitation: You better be committed. If God has called you, you better not make excuses or run away. There is no guarantee that God will protect you from martyrdom while you are doing His work. Your call is to obedience!
