Summary: Justification Sanctification and Glorification.

Most believers are frustrated, discouraged and defeated because we don’t know how live out Romans 6.

Three “Phases” of Your Salvation:

JUSTIFICATION—being set free from the penalty of sin.

SANCTIFICATION—being set free from the power of sin.

GLORIFICATION—being set free from the presence of sin.

Question: How do I break the power of my old nature?

Truth:

“POSITIONAL”—What God says about my Christian life.

“EXPERIENTIAL”—When I begin to live the way God sees me.

Romans 6:3, 6, and 9 “know”.

Romans 6:11 “count”.

Romans 6:13 “offer”.

The “Facts” of the Christian Life:

When I became a believer I was place “in Christ”. Vs. 3-5

Colossians 2:12 “Having been buried with him in baptism and raised with him through your faith in the power of God, who raised him from the dead.” (NIV)

When Christ died my old sin nature was crucified “with Him”. Vs. 6-7

Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” (NIV)

Question: Why are so many believers defeated by sinful habits?

Christ’s resurrection has guaranteed our ultimate victory. Vs. 8-10

Question: What good does all this knowledge do for me?

The “Actions” of the Christian Life:

“RECKON”—believe what God says is true. Vs. 11

Count yourself dead to sin and alive with Christ!

“RESIST”—don’t let sin go unchallenged in your life. Vs. 12-13a

Galatians 5:16 “So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature.” (NIV)

“RENDER”—to give, to offer yourself. Vs.13b-14

Titus 2:11-12 “For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age…” (NIV)
