G. Key word: Remember

H. Key verses:

Deuteronomy 6:1-4 (Amplified Bible)

6:1 NOW THIS is the instruction, the laws, and the precepts which the Lord your God commanded me to teach you, that you might do them in the land to which you go to possess it,

6:2 That you may [reverently] fear the Lord your God, you and your son and your son’s son, and keep all His statutes and His commandments which I command you all the days of your life, and that your days may be prolonged.

6:3 Hear therefore, O Israel, and be watchful to do them, that it may be well with you and that you may increase exceedingly, as the Lord, the God of your fathers, has promised you, in a land flowing with milk and honey.

6:4 Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God is one Lord [the only Lord].

VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. GOD's will is: Deuteronomy 1:21 (Amplified Bible)

1:21 Behold, the Lord your God has set the land before you; go up and possess it, as the Lord, the God of your fathers, has said to you. Fear not, neither be dismayed.

People commanded by GOD and yet still wants proofs:

1. Gideon and his fleece. Gideon has a direct order from the LORD Later Gideon

Judges 6:39 (Amplified Bible)

6:39 And Gideon said to God, Let not your anger be kindled against me, and I will speak but this once. Let me make trial only this once with the fleece, I pray you; let it now be dry only upon the fleece and upon all the ground let there be dew.

Judges 8:27 (Amplified Bible)

8:27 And Gideon made an ephod [a sacred, high priest’s garment] of it, and put it in his city of Ophrah, and all Israel paid homage to it there, and it became a snare to Gideon and to his family.

Direct Command/GOD's will:

Judges 6:14 (Amplified Bible)

6:14 The Lord turned to him and said, Go in this your might, and you shall save Israel from the hand of Midian. Have I not sent you?

2. King Hezekiah and the sundial shadow. King Hezekiah prayed for healing and yet he's not prepared to believe and be healed.

Direct Command/GOD's will:

2 Kings 20:5 (Amplified Bible)

20:5 Turn back and tell Hezekiah, the leader of My people, Thus says the Lord, the God of David your [forefather]: I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; behold, I will heal you. On the third day you shall go up to the house of the Lord.

When you pray for healing, be ready to believe and accept that you were already healed.

Isaiah 53:5 (Amplified Bible)

53:5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole.

1 Peter 2:24 (Amplified Bible)

2:24 He personally bore our sins in His [own] body on the tree [as on an altar and offered Himself on it], that we might die (cease to exist) to sin and live to righteousness. By His wounds you have been healed.

Exodus 15:26 (Amplified Bible)

15:26 Saying, If you will diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord your God and will do what is right in His sight, and will listen to and obey His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases upon you which I brought upon the Egyptians, for I am the Lord Who heals you.

But he asked for a sign and King Hezekiah wanted it to make it more difficult for GOD:

2 Kings 20:10 (Amplified Bible)

20:10 Hezekiah answered, It is an easy matter for the shadow to go forward ten steps; so let the shadow go back ten steps.

There's no hard thing or difficult thing for GOD to do:

Jeremiah 32:27 (Amplified Bible)

32:27 Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh; is there anything too hard for Me?

3. Moses and 12 spies.

Direct command/GOD's will:

Deuteronomy 1:21 (Amplified Bible)

1:21 Behold, the Lord your God has set the land before you; go up and possess it, as the Lord, the God of your fathers, has said to you. Fear not, neither be dismayed.

Consequence:

Deuteronomy 1:37 (Amplified Bible)

1:37 The Lord was angry with me also for your sakes, and said, You also shall not enter Canaan.

They asked for them to spy first.

Deuteronomy 1:22 (Amplified Bible)

1:22 Then you all came near to me and said, Let us send men before us, that they may search out the land for us and bring us word again by what way we should go up and the cities into which we shall come.

GOD knows it, but in His Great Love and Mercy for the Israelites, He permitted it. Problem if Moses was their leader, Moses have taught them to be obedient instead of asking for signs. It even pleased Moses. Moses thought it's a good idea, and it pleased him well.

Deuteronomy 1:23 (Amplified Bible)

1:23 The thing pleased me well, and I took twelve men of you, one for each tribe. As a consequence, Moses never set foot on the promised land but only saw it.

It's not a good idea if it's not GOD's will. Seek for GOD's will it's GOD's Idea. It doesn't matter if it's a good idea or a bad idea, what matters is if it's GOD's idea. GOD's idea is GOD's will.

Deuteronomy 1:23 (New International Version)

1:23 The idea seemed good to me; so I selected twelve of you, one man from each tribe.

4. John, the Baptist and 2 disciples. John doubted and asked 2 of his disciples to ask JESUS.

Luke 7:19 (Amplified Bible)

7:19 And John summoned to him a certain two of his disciples and sent them to the Lord, saying, Are You He Who is to come, or shall we [continue to] look for another?

Like Moses, Moses doubted the command to possess the land, so he give in to the suggestion of the Israelites. In this scene, John the Baptist even used people to doubt JESUS, instead of teaching them to believe in JESUS.

Consequence: John, the baptist died before his time and not with JESUS by his side.

Matthew 14:10 (Amplified Bible)

14:10 He sent and had John beheaded in the prison.

Mark 6:16 (Amplified Bible)

6:16 But when Herod heard [of it], he said, [This very] John, whom I beheaded, has been raised [from the dead].

John, the baptist because he's from the Old Testament, was armor bearer of JESUS and should have died next to his Master: JESUS CHRIST.

John 3:28 (Amplified Bible)

3:28 You yourselves are my witnesses [you personally bear me out] that I stated, I am not the Christ (the Anointed One, the Messiah), but I have [only] been sent before Him [in advance of Him, to be His appointed forerunner, His messenger, His announcer].

Malachi 3:1 (Amplified Bible)

3:1 BEHOLD, I send My messenger, and he shall prepare the way before Me. And the Lord [the Messiah], Whom you seek, will suddenly come to His temple; the Messenger or Angel of the covenant, Whom you desire, behold, He shall come, says the Lord of hosts.

5. Deborah and Barak. Barak was commanded by GOD to kill Sisera but he tag-along with Deborah and as a consequence a woman took the credit not them.

Judges 4:6-9 (Amplified Bible)

4:6 And she sent and called Barak son of Abinoam from Kedesh in Naphtali and said to him, Has not the Lord, the God of Israel, commanded [you], Go, gather your men at Mount Tabor, taking 10,000 men from the tribes of Naphtali and Zebulun?

4:7 And I will draw out Sisera, the general of Jabin’s army, to meet you at the river Kishon with his chariots and his multitude, and I will deliver him into your hand?

4:8 And Barak said to her, If you will go with me, then I will go; but if you will not go with me, I will not go.

4:9 And she said, I will surely go with you; nevertheless, the trip you take will not be for your glory, for the Lord will sell Sisera into the hand of a woman. And Deborah arose and went with Barak to Kedesh.

GOD's will/direct command of the LORD: Barak will defeat Sisera with 10,000 men, but the permissive will is to take along Deborah. The credit was given to a woman not to Barak.

6. Peter and the water.

Matthew 14:27-31 (New International Version)

14:27 But Jesus immediately said to them: "Take courage! It is I. Don't be afraid."

14:28 "Lord, if it's you," Peter replied, "tell me to come to you on the water."

14:29 "Come," he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.

14:30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, "Lord, save me!"

14:31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. "You of little faith," he said, "why did you doubt?"

Direct command/GOD's will: "Take courage! It is I. Don't be afraid."

Consequence: Peter sank.

Matthew 14:30-31 (Amplified Bible)

14:30 But when he perceived and felt the strong wind, he was frightened, and as he began to sink, he cried out, Lord, save me [from death]!

14:31 Instantly Jesus reached out His hand and caught and held him, saying to him, O you of little faith, why did you doubt?

7. Thomas and the wounds of JESUS.

John 20:25-29 (Amplified Bible)

20:25 So the other disciples kept telling him, We have seen the Lord! But he said to them, Unless I see in His hands the marks made by the nails and put my finger into the nail prints, and put my hand into His side, I will never believe [it].

20:26 Eight days later His disciples were again in the house, and Thomas was with them. Jesus came, though they were behind closed doors, and stood among them and said, Peace to you!

20:27 Then He said to Thomas, Reach out your finger here, and see My hands; and put out your hand and place [it] in My side. Do not be faithless and incredulous, but [stop your unbelief and] believe!

20:28 Thomas answered Him, My Lord and my God!

20:29 Jesus said to him, Because you have seen Me, Thomas, do you now believe (trust, have faith)? Blessed and happy and to be envied are those who have never seen Me and yet have believed and adhered to and trusted and relied on Me.

GOD's will:

Luke 9:22 (Amplified Bible)

9:22 Saying, The Son of Man must suffer many things and be [deliberately] disapproved and repudiated and rejected on the part of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be put to death and on the third day be raised [again].

Consequence: Thomas was not mentioned anymore in the Book of Acts compared to his contemporaries like Peter, John and the other apostles.

8. King Saul and the best of the Amalekites.

Direct command/GOD's will:

1 Samuel 15:3 (Amplified Bible)

15:3 Now go and smite Amalek and utterly destroy all they have; do not spare them, but kill both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.

Disobedience of King Saul:

1 Samuel 15:9 (Amplified Bible)

15:9 Saul and the people spared Agag and the best of the sheep, oxen, fatlings, lambs, and all that was good, and would not utterly destroy them; but all that was undesirable or worthless they destroyed utterly.

Consequence: King Saul lost the kingdom of Israel to King David

1 Samuel 15:28 (Amplified Bible)

15:28 And Samuel said to him, The Lord has torn the kingdom of Israel from you this day and has given it to a neighbor of yours who is better than you.

What not to do?

1. Don't request a sign. Believe if it's the WORD of GOD.

Signs are for unbelievers and faith is for the believers.

1 Corinthians 14:22 (Amplified Bible)

14:22 Thus [unknown] tongues are meant for a [supernatural] sign, not for believers but for unbelievers [on the point of believing], while prophecy (inspired preaching and teaching, interpreting the divine will and purpose) is not for unbelievers [on the point of believing] but for believers.

Example of sign: Medical check-up and opinion of doctors.

2. Don't ask opinion of others. GOD's WORD is proof enough, GOD's opinion is infinitely greater than man's opinion.

Acts 5:29 (Amplified Bible)

5:29 Then Peter and the apostles replied, We must obey God rather than men.

3. Don't ask opinion of your members. Ask them for suggestions how to do GOD's command to you.

Example of Jairus:

Mark 5:35-36 (Amplified Bible)

5:35 While He was still speaking, there came some from the ruler’s house, who said [to Jairus], Your daughter has died. Why bother and distress the Teacher any further?

5:36 Overhearing but ignoring what they said, Jesus said to the ruler of the synagogue, Do not be seized with alarm and struck with fear; only keep on believing.

Even the people's opinion are right, for example, Jairus daughter already died but she can still live because of JESUS just like Lazarus.

John 11:4 (Amplified Bible)

11:4 When Jesus received the message, He said, This sickness is not to end in death; but [on the contrary] it is to honor God and to promote His glory, that the Son of God may be glorified through (by) it.

Direct command/ GOD's will: "This sickness is not to end in death; but [on the contrary] it is to honor God and to promote His glory, that the Son of God may be glorified through (by) it."

Consequence when you believe the WORD, even the dead will rise:

John 11:43-44 (Amplified Bible)

11:43 When He had said this, He shouted with a loud voice, Lazarus, come out!

11:44 And out walked the man who had been dead, his hands and feet wrapped in burial cloths (linen strips), and with a [burial] napkin bound around his face. Jesus said to them, Free him of the burial wrappings and let him go.

Mark 9:23 (Amplified Bible)

9:23 And Jesus said, [You say to Me], If You can do anything? [Why,] all things can be (are possible) to him who believes!

4. Don't tag along with others. Barak tag along with Deborah. What if only you does attend the prayer and fasting, still attend for you are doing it for GOD not for men to see you. Usually overnight fellowships and prayer/fasting are the hardest to attend, but those who attend does it to please GOD and strengthen themselves in the LORD.

Ephesians 6:10 (Amplified Bible)

6:10 In conclusion, be strong in the Lord [be empowered through your union with Him]; draw your strength from Him [that strength which His boundless might provides].

5. Don't doubt

James 1:6 (Amplified Bible)

1:6 Only it must be in faith that he asks with no wavering (no hesitating, no doubting). For the one who wavers (hesitates, doubts) is like the billowing surge out at sea that is blown hither and thither and tossed by the wind.

Mark 11:23 (Amplified Bible)

11:23 Truly I tell you, whoever says to this mountain, Be lifted up and thrown into the sea! and does not doubt at all in his heart but believes that what he says will take place, it will be done for him.

B. Permissive will: Deuteronomy 1:22 (Amplified Bible)

1:22 Then you all came near to me and said, Let us send men before us, that they may search out the land for us and bring us word again by what way we should go up and the cities into which we shall come.

Permissive [Source: Webster's Dictionary] means:

a. Granting liberty; allowing

b. Granted; suffered without hindrance.

Only 2 decisions to choose from:

Permissive and acceptance found.

1. Permissive will led them to disobey GOD because of fear.

Our eyes need not to see the full path, we need to walk by faith.

Deuteronomy 1:26 (Amplified Bible)

1:26 Yet you would not go up, but rebelled against the commandment of the Lord your God.

2 Corinthians 5:7 (Amplified Bible)

5:7 For we walk by faith [we regulate our lives and conduct ourselves by our conviction or belief respecting man’s relationship to God and divine things, with trust and holy fervor; thus we walk] not by sight or appearance.

Hebrews 11:1 (Amplified Bible)

11:1 NOW FAITH is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses].

2 Corinthians 4:18 (Amplified Bible)

4:18 Since we consider and look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen; for the things that are visible are temporal (brief and fleeting), but the things that are invisible are deathless and everlasting.

2. After disobedience, it will lead you to distrust the LORD.

Distrust [Source: Webster's Dictionary] means:

a. To doubt or suspect the truth, fidelity, firmness or sincerity of; not to confide in or rely on.

b. To doubt; to suspect not to be real, true, sincere or firm.

c. Doubt or suspicion of reality or sincerity; want of confidence, faith or reliance.

A distrustful person or people who doesn't trust anyone does not trust the LORD in the first place.

Deuteronomy 1:32 (Amplified Bible)

1:32 Yet in spite of this word you did not believe (trust, rely on, and remain steadfast to) the Lord your God,

James 1:6 (Amplified Bible)

1:6 Only it must be in faith that he asks with no wavering (no hesitating, no doubting). For the one who wavers (hesitates, doubts) is like the billowing surge out at sea that is blown hither and thither and tossed by the wind.

Wavering or "diakrino" in Greek which means:

1. to separate thoroughly

2. to withdraw from

3. to discriminate

4. discern, doubt, judge, be partial, stagger

3. After distrusting the LORD, you will also distrust your brethren.

Deuteronomy 1:42-44 (Amplified Bible)

1:42 And the Lord said to me, Say to them, Do not go up or fight, for I am not among you—lest you be dangerously hurt by your enemies.

1:43 So I spoke to you, and you would not hear, but rebelled against the commandment of the Lord, and were presumptuous and went up into the hill country.

1:44 Then the Amorites who lived in that hill country came out against you and chased you as bees do and struck you down in Seir as far as Hormah.

IX. CONCLUSION:

Philippians 2:13 (Amplified Bible)

2:13 [Not in your own strength] for it is God Who is all the while effectually at work in you [energizing and creating in you the power and desire], both to will and to work for His good pleasure and satisfaction and delight.

Psalms 36:5 (Amplified Bible)

36:5 Your mercy and loving-kindness, O Lord, extend to the skies, and Your faithfulness to the clouds.

1 Thessalonians 5:24 (Amplified Bible)

5:24 Faithful is He Who is calling you [to Himself] and utterly trustworthy, and He will also do it [fulfill His call by hallowing and keeping you].

James 4:15-16 (Amplified Bible)

4:15 You ought instead to say, If the Lord is willing, we shall live and we shall do this or that [thing].

4:16 But as it is, you boast [falsely] in your presumption and your self-conceit. All such boasting is wrong.

Praise, worship and thank You very much LORD JESUS for You are Yes and Amen and You watches Your WORD to perform it.

Jeremiah 1:12 (Amplified Bible)

1:12 Then said the Lord to me, You have seen well, for I am alert and active, watching over My word to perform it.

2 Corinthians 1:20 (Amplified Bible)

1:20 For as many as are the promises of God, they all find their Yes [answer] in Him [Christ]. For this reason we also utter the Amen (so be it) to God through Him [in His Person and by His agency] to the glory of God.
