1. place, places, room, quarters
2. Greek definitions: a spot, location (position, home), figuratively: condition, opportunity
3. specifically: scabbard - a sheathe or placeholder for swords.
Because the WORD of GOD is Sword, so the WORD of GOD is JESUS CHRIST within us and JESUS CHRIST is on a place holder. You don't carry a sword in bare hands, it will cut you, you need a scabbard to hold it while not in use. We are not in use, because the LORD JESUS is the One being used by GOD within us.

6:17 And take the helmet of salvation and the sword that the Spirit wields, which is the Word of God.

Thayer Definition:
1) place, any portion or space marked off, as it were from surrounding space

2b) opportunity, power, occasion for acting
The word "topos" has 92 occurences in the New Testament and also a common word for one of my bible college professor. It's worth a study, because it's commonly connected with Judas, one of the 12 apostles who left his office, position or place.
B. Some incidents/notable events and notable persons in the bible regarding topos:
1. The LORD JESUS CHRIST - left His house here on earth, the crowd to pray and minister.
a. in prayer
Matthew 14:13 (Amplified Bible)
14:13 When Jesus heard it, He withdrew from there privately in a boat to a solitary place. But when the crowds heard of it, they followed Him [by land] on foot from the towns.
Matthew 28:6 (Amplified Bible)
28:6 He is not here; He has risen, as He said [He would do]. Come, see the place where He lay.
b. in preaching the WORD
Matthew 14:15 (Amplified Bible)
14:15 When evening came, the disciples came to Him and said, This is a remote and barren place, and the day is now over; send the throngs away into the villages to buy food for themselves.
c. the people during the crucifixion of the LORD
Matthew 27:33 (Amplified Bible)
27:33 And when they came to a place called Golgotha [Latin: Calvary], which means The Place of a Skull,
d. when He has risen, He left earth

2. Lucifer and the fallen angels - unclean spirits - left Heaven

4. believers - we are constanly invited by the LORD to come to His place (topos) and rest (using faith)

5. backslidden church - the position and office with JESUS

11. Thessalonian church - their faith is famous in every topos (places)

12. Don't give the devil a topos
