VII. EXPLICATION:

A. Authors: Credited generally to King Solomon before his character downfall/decline.

B. Date written: from 931 to 686 B.C.

C. Purpose: To give moral instruction

D. Main Theme: Fear of the LORD

VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. If you say to the wicked you are righteous and innocent

1. People will curse you

2. Nations will defy you

3. Nations will abhor you

"24:24 He who says to the wicked, You are righteous and innocent — peoples will curse him, nations will defy and abhor him."

Wicked or "rasha" in Hebrew means:

1. morally wrong

2. bad person

3. condemned

In the bible, a wicked person is someone who is not in relationship with the LORD JESUS CHRIST or rejects the offer of salvation and grace on the cross of calvary. It's not by works or deeds.

Righteous or "tsaddyq" in Hebrew means: just, lawful, righteous

Righteous people are those with relationship with the LORD JESUS CHRIST. Relationship with the LORD JESUS is important and prioritized not religion.

Abhor - means to hate extremely, or with contempt; to lothe, detest or abominate [source: Webster's dictionary]

Proverbs 17:15 (Amplified Bible)

17:15 He who justifies the wicked and he who condemns the righteous are both an abomination [exceedingly disgusting and hateful] to the Lord.

Exodus 23:7 (Amplified Bible)

23:7 Keep far from a false matter and [be very careful] not to condemn to death the innocent and the righteous, for I will not justify and acquit the wicked.

Isaiah 5:20 (Amplified Bible)

5:20 Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!

Nations are people. Unbelievers usually do this because they have their own personal agenda.

Illustration:

A chairman of the homeowner's association in a squatter-infested village, many times appointed a drunkard to be peace and order, and protected a squatter instead of the righteous, for a while and for now, she's successful, but later on, the truth will come out and she will end out being cursed, defied (to dare, to provoke to combat or strife, to be challenged) and abhorred (to hate extremely, to despise or neglect, to cast off, or to reject).

Similar instances in the bible:

1. Barabbas was notorious yet pronounce innocent by Pontius Pilate

Matthew 27:16-20 (Amplified Bible)

27:16 And at that time they had a notorious prisoner whose name was Barabbas.

27:17 So when they had assembled for this purpose, Pilate said to them, Whom do you want me to set free for you, Barabbas, or Jesus Who is called Christ?

27:18 For he knew that it was because of envy that they had handed Him over to him.

27:19 Also, while he was seated on the judgment bench, his wife sent him a message, saying, Have nothing to do with that just and upright Man, for I have had a painful experience today in a dream because of Him.

27:20 But the chief priests and the elders prevailed on the people to ask for Barabbas, and put Jesus to death.

2. Brought to court because they speak about JESUS

Acts 4:17-19 (Amplified Bible)

4:17 But in order that it may not spread further among the people and the nation, let us warn and forbid them with a stern threat to speak any more to anyone in this name [or about this Person].

4:18 [So] they summoned them and imperatively instructed them not to converse in any way or teach at all in or about the name of Jesus.

4:19 But Peter and John replied to them, Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you and obey you rather than God, you must decide (judge).

3. Paul and Silas was whipped and brought to prison for setting a demon-possessed girl free

Acts 16:18-25 (Amplified Bible)

16:18 And she did this for many days. Then Paul, being sorely annoyed and worn out, turned and said to the spirit within her, I charge you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her! And it came out that very moment.

16:19 But when her owners discovered that their hope of profit was gone, they caught hold of Paul and Silas and dragged them before the authorities in the forum (marketplace), [where trials are held].

16:20 And when they had brought them before the magistrates, they declared, These fellows are Jews and they are throwing our city into great confusion.

16:21 They encourage the practice of customs which it is unlawful for us Romans to accept or observe!

16:22 The crowd [also] joined in the attack upon them, and the rulers tore the clothes off of them and commanded that they be beaten with rods.

16:23 And when they had struck them with many blows, they threw them into prison, charging the jailer to keep them safely.

16:24 He, having received [so strict a] charge, put them into the inner prison (the dungeon) and fastened their feet in the stocks.

16:25 But about midnight, as Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns of praise to God, and the [other] prisoners were listening to them,

B. If you rebuke the wicked:

1. It will all go well with you

2. You will take delight

2. Good blessing will be upon you

"24:25 But to those [upright judges] who rebuke the wicked, it will go well with them and they will find delight, and a good blessing will be upon them."

A real brother or real sister will not flatter you but will rebuke you for your own benefit and progress.

Proverbs 27:5 (Amplified Bible)

27:5 Open rebuke is better than love that is hidden.

A real brother or real sister or a real friend will wound you with his/her words just to correct you, but beware of the kisses of the enemy.

Proverbs 27:6 (Amplified Bible)

27:6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend, but the kisses of an enemy are lavish and deceitful.

JESUS was betrayed with a kiss.

Luke 22:48 (Amplified Bible)

22:48 But Jesus said to him, Judas! Would you betray and deliver up the Son of Man with a kiss?

Results of rebuking a sin when seen:

1. It will all go well with you

2. You will take delight

2. Good blessing will be upon you

Proverbs 28:23 (Amplified Bible)

28:23 He who rebukes a man shall afterward find more favor than he who flatters with the tongue.

Titus 1:13 (Amplified Bible)

1:13 And this account of them is [really] true. Because it is [true], rebuke them sharply [deal sternly, even severely with them], so that they may be sound in the faith and free from error,

2 Timothy 4:2 (Amplified Bible)

4:2 Herald and preach the Word! Keep your sense of urgency [stand by, be at hand and ready], whether the opportunity seems to be favorable or unfavorable. [Whether it is convenient or inconvenient, whether it is welcome or unwelcome, you as preacher of the Word are to show people in what way their lives are wrong.] And convince them, rebuking and correcting, warning and urging and encouraging them, being unflagging and inexhaustible in patience and teaching.

Titus 2:15 (Amplified Bible)

2:15 Tell [them all] these things. Urge (advise, encourage, warn) and rebuke with full authority. Let no one despise or disregard or think little of you [conduct yourself and your teaching so as to command respect].

IX. CONCLUSION:

Those who call the wicked as righteous shall be cursed, hated and avoided. We continue to rebuke wicked people and GOD's delight, good or godly blessing shall come upon us and it will all go well with us.

Praise, worship and thank You very much LORD JESUS for You are using my mouth to speak GOD's WORDS not to flatter but to correct for there's blessing afterwards.
