Intimacy requires excitement, joy, desire. It is something that you want to do with your time. When we enjoy something in life we take time, discipline and even suffer to get what we want. Having intimacy with Jesus Christ means that we desire to be close to Him, to be familiar with Him and His ways. We want to be personal with Him share His hurts, His feelings. Intimacy is to speak to someone and to hear them speak back. Jesus Christ came to earth as a man not only to die for our sins but to restore our relationship back to God so that we could be in personal communion with Him. It is when we realize that we have become a child of God that we begin to see that we can be in constant fellowship with our Heavenly Father.
God gives in the book of Psalms the picture of a young deer seeking after a drink from the river. But not just a causal drink but a desperate need for water in the heat of the day. Do we seek after knowing God in that it is life to our souls? This intimacy with Jesus Christ is life and without it our souls will be parched, empty and barren. Do you feel dried up and weary? Perhaps it is time you went again to the fountain of living waters. The Alpha and Omega, the creator of the ends of the earth is calling your name and desires an intimate relationship, how could we refuse?
