Summary: To show that GOD remembers His SON's finished work on the cross that brought us redemption, justification and sanctification but He no longer charges us or remembers our sins counted against us.

I. EXORDIUM:

Are you a repentant person?

Yes. I always renew my mind according to GOD's WORDS.

Romans 12:2

Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].

II. AUDIENCE PROFILE:

Believers

III. OBJECTIVES:

To show that GOD remembers His SON's finished work on the cross that brought us redemption, justification and sanctification but He no longer charges us or remembers our sins counted against us.

IV. TEXT:

Deuteronomy 9:27

Remember [earnestly] Your servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; look not at the stubbornness of this people or at their wickedness or at their sin,

V. THESIS:

Praise, worship and thank You very much LORD JESUS for the LORD JESUS finished work that has forgiven me and cleansed me from all unrighteousness.

VI. TITLE:

GOD does not remember our sins

VII. EXPLICATION:

VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. GOD remembers His Servant: the LORD JESUS

"Remember [earnestly] Your servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob;"

The LORD GOD is thinking and remembering the finished work of the LORD JESUS on Golgotha (Cross of Calvary) when He sees us. GOD sees us through the finished work of the LORD JESUS.

2 Corinthians 5:20

So we are Christ’s ambassadors, God making His appeal as it were through us. We [as Christ’s personal representatives] beg you for His sake to lay hold of the divine favor [now offered you] and be reconciled to God.

Jeremiah 14:21

Do not abhor, condemn, and spurn us, for Your name’s sake; do not dishonor, debase, and lightly esteem Your glorious throne; [earnestly] remember, break not Your covenant or solemn pledge with us.

For the sake of the LORD:

1. We have lost everything

Paul's example - a learned and hard-working Pharisee of the Pharisee but he lost all of these things for the sake of CHRIST.

Philippians 3:7-8

But whatever former things I had that might have been gains to me, I have come to consider as [one combined] loss for Christ’s sake.

Yes, furthermore, I count everything as loss compared to the possession of the priceless privilege (the overwhelming preciousness, the surpassing worth, and supreme advantage) of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord and of progressively becoming more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him [of perceiving and recognizing and understanding Him more fully and clearly]. For His sake I have lost everything and consider it all to be mere rubbish (refuse, dregs), in order that I may win (gain) Christ (the Anointed One),

2. We considered the contempt, abuse and shame

Moses' example - he was looking forward in time for the sake of the LORD JESUS CHRIST, he bore contempt, abuse and shame. He would rather be considered a slave Jew to be one of them rather than sit in the Pharaoh's throne.

Hebrews 11:26

He considered the contempt and abuse and shame [borne for] the Christ (the Messiah Who was to come) to be greater wealth than all the treasures of Egypt, for he looked forward and away to the reward (recompense).

3. We become prisoners.

Paul look at himself as prisoner of the LORD.

Ephesians 3:1

FOR THIS reason [because I preached that you are thus built up together], I, Paul, [am] the prisoner of Jesus the Christ for the sake and on behalf of you Gentiles—

Philemon 1:9

Yet for love’s sake I prefer to appeal to you just for what I am—I, Paul, an ambassador [of Christ Jesus] and an old man and now a prisoner for His sake also—

4. We forgive everyone

2 Corinthians 2:10

If you forgive anyone anything, I too forgive that one; and what I have forgiven, if I have forgiven anything, has been for your sakes in the presence [and with the approval] of Christ (the Messiah),

5. We rejoice in sufferings

Colossians 1:24

[Even] now I rejoice in the midst of my sufferings on your behalf. And in my own person I am making up whatever is still lacking and remains to be completed [on our part] of Christ’s afflictions, for the sake of His body, which is the church.

Philippians 1:29

For you have been granted [the privilege] for Christ’s sake not only to believe in (adhere to, rely on, and trust in) Him, but also to suffer in His behalf.

6. We became fools

1 Corinthians 4:10

We are [looked upon as] fools on account of Christ and for His sake, but you are [supposedly] so amazingly wise and prudent in Christ! We are weak, but you are [so very] strong! You are highly esteemed, but we are in disrepute and contempt!

7. We believe GOD in JESUS's name

Philippians 1:29

For you have been granted [the privilege] for Christ’s sake not only to believe in (adhere to, rely on, and trust in) Him, but also to suffer in His behalf.

B. GOD does not remember: stubbornness, wickedness and sin of His people

"look not at the stubbornness of this people or at their wickedness or at their sin,"

Micah 7:18-19

Who is a God like You, Who forgives iniquity and passes over the transgression of the remnant of His heritage? He retains not His anger forever, because He delights in mercy and loving-kindness.

He will again have compassion on us; He will subdue and tread underfoot our iniquities. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.

Jeremiah 50:20

In those days and at that time, says the Lord, the iniquity of Israel will be sought, but there will be none, and the sins of Judah [will be sought], but none will be found, for I will pardon those whom I cause to remain as a remnant (the preserved ones who come forth after a long tribulation).

Isaiah 43:25

I, even I, am He Who blots out and cancels your transgressions, for My own sake, and I will not remember your sins.

GOD is very clear in His WORDS, He does not remember our sins. So why do we remember our sins? I've known a church every year they repent, every year they kneel on the stage but the question is when will they ever change?

Repentance is a change of mind, or a conversion from sin to God. It's a change of mind not a change of position (kneels) that will make us better people of GOD.

2 Corinthians 7:10-11

For godly grief and the pain God is permitted to direct, produce a repentance that leads and contributes to salvation and deliverance from evil, and it never brings regret; but worldly grief (the hopeless sorrow that is characteristic of the pagan world) is deadly [breeding and ending in death].

For [you can look back now and] observe what this same godly sorrow has done for you and has produced in you: what eagerness and earnest care to explain and clear yourselves [of all complicity in the condoning of incest], what indignation [at the sin], what alarm, what yearning, what zeal [to do justice to all concerned], what readiness to mete out punishment [to the offender]! At every point you have proved yourselves cleared and guiltless in the matter.

IX. CONCLUSION:

If GOD does remember JESUS finished work and not our sins, then why do we, mere humans remember our sins, remember that we have been forgiven by the blood of the Lamb.

Psalms 51:7

Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean [ceremonially]; wash me, and I shall [in reality] be whiter than snow.

Praise, worship and thank You very much LORD JESUS for the LORD JESUS finished work that has forgiven me and cleansed me from all unrighteousness.
