"Divisions Amongst the Saints'
1 Corinthians 11:18 For, in the first place, when you come together as a church, I hear that there are divisions (\schismata\) among you. And I believe it in part,
Today we see the United States lining up with the money powers of the world. We see laws passed, and laws dismissed by certain powerful government officials which would never of happen if it was taken to the ballot boxes (Exodus 23:8). The powers here on earth have kelp the people in general divided on issues, government, justice, the economy, education, war, race, science, and religion. While we focus on the fleshly issues these powers are slowly moving out what God put in place that made this country great. The sad thing is even the household of faith is divided on fleshly and spiritual issues, such as doctrine, denominations, prosperity, healing, marriage, requirements and the role of a pastor or Elder. The Bible clearly covers every subject I listed and a church that belongs to God will obey God's written Word.
First, we see the problem, a division.
My pastor always told me that in many congregations you will have half of them working for you and the other half working against you. The percentages varies from church to church depending own their preferences about what type of man of God they are looking to lead their church. We who are the church should all be on the same page, saying the same thing. We should all have the same message and the same mission saving and discipline souls for the kingdom of God.
Second, is the condition of the people in the church.
In every growing church body you will have a blend of believers, babes in Christ, teens in Christ, young adults in Christ, mature adults in Christ, and the senior adults in Christ. The listing has nothing to do with the physical age, but with the spiritual growth of the child of God. Then we have people who are going to the church for all the wrong reasons, so they can find a spouse, so they can get into networking with other business owners, so they may obtain favors from other members. It's only by God's grace and mercy that we are altogether in the church body. If we would only seek first the kingdom of heaven than God would prepare our hearts to receive the other things in life we desire that is in His will for our lives.
Third, we see one road with many lanes.
There are a lot of different churches here in the United States and a lot of different worship styles. The main thing here is making sure the church you choose worships Jesus as their Lord and Savior and a church that preaches through all the Bible. There are some churches that cannot preach certain scriptures in the Bible because it contradicts what their church body allows into their church club, not God's church. Make sure the pastor in the church is a man after God's own heart, and believes that the whole Bible is God's written word to mankind.
Fourth, we need a spiritual check
We need a spiritual check every so often; just like we should have a physical check up every so often. Every church needs to evaluate what it is doing to make sure it is being effective in the community where it is serving. A pastor in the community must keep in touch with the needs and concerns of his congregation. He does this so he will know what to ask God in prayer concerning His Word that will pertain to the issues the congregation is going through at this moment in time. If the church would get on the same page with each other there would be much done for the kingdom of heaven. The devil knows this and this is one reason he keeps the church divided on important issues. Jesus said if a kingdom is divided against itself it cannot stand (Mark 3:24-26). On Sunday mornings America is the most segregated country in the world, and in heaven it is not so. (Revelation 7:9-10).
