12:41 At the end of the 430 years, even that very day, all the hosts of the Lord went out of Egypt.

12:42 It was a night of watching unto the Lord and to be much observed for bringing them out of Egypt; this same night of watching unto the Lord is to be observed by all the Israelites throughout their generations.

12:43 The Lord said to Moses and Aaron, This is the ordinance of the Passover: No foreigner shall eat of it;

VIII. MAIN BODY:

Exodus 12:20 (King James Version)

Ye shall eat nothing leavened; in all your habitations shall ye eat unleavened bread.

A. Eat nothing leavened

"Ye shall eat nothing leavened;"

Leavened symbolizes extortion or corruption according to it's Hebrew word "".

However, bread made with leaven or honey, both associated with the process of fermentation and thus a source of corruption, —Holman Illustrated Bible Dictionary.

Leavened or "chamets" in Hebrew which means:

1. extortion - the act or practice of wresting any thing from a person by force, duress, menaces, authority,or by any undue exercise of power; illegal exaction; illegal compulsion to pay money, or to do some other act. Extortion is an offense punishable at common law.

Unleavened or "matstsah" in Hebrew which means:

1. concretely sweet (not soured or bittered with yeast)

2.

Exodus 12:20 (The Message)

Don't eat anything raised. Only matzoth."

What are leavened?

1. Leaven of the Pharisees - hypocrisy

Luke 12:1 (Amplified Bible)

IN THE meanwhile, when so many thousands of the people had gathered that they were trampling on one another, Jesus commenced by saying primarily to His disciples, Be on your guard against the leaven (ferment) of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy [producing unrest and violent agitation].

2. Leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees - their teaching

Matthew 16:1 (Amplified Bible)

NOW THE Pharisees and Sadducees came up to Jesus, and they asked Him to show them a sign (spectacular miracle) from heaven [attesting His divine authority].

Matthew 16:12 (Amplified Bible)

Then they discerned that He did not tell them to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

3. Little leaven - sexual immorality

1 Corinthians 5:1 (Amplified Bible)

IT IS actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, impurity of a sort that is condemned and does not occur even among the heathen; for a man has [his own] father’s wife.

1 Corinthians 5:6 (Amplified Bible)

[About the condition of your church] your boasting is not good [indeed, it is most unseemly and entirely out of place]. Do you not know that [just] a little leaven will ferment the whole lump [of dough]?

4. Old leaven - contamination

1 Corinthians 5:7 (Amplified Bible)

Purge (clean out) the old leaven that you may be fresh (new) dough, still uncontaminated [as you are], for Christ, our Passover [Lamb], has been sacrificed.

5. Leaven of vice, malice and wickedness

1 Corinthians 5:8 (Amplified Bible)

Therefore, let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with leaven of vice and malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened [bread] of purity (nobility, honor) and sincerity and [unadulterated] truth.

6. False teachers

Galatians 5:9 (Amplified Bible)

A little leaven (a slight inclination to error, or a few false teachers) leavens the whole lump [it perverts the whole conception of faith or misleads the whole church].

7. Leaven of Herod and the Herodians - they catch you when you fall or commit a mistake

Mark 8:15 (Amplified Bible)

And Jesus [repeatedly and expressly] charged and admonished them, saying, Look out; keep on your guard and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod and the Herodians.

Matthew 22:15-16 (Amplified Bible)

Then the Pharisees went and consulted and plotted together how they might entangle Jesus in His talk.

And they sent their disciples to Him along with the Herodians, saying, Teacher, we know that You are sincere and what You profess to be and that You teach the way of God truthfully, regardless of consequences and being afraid of no man; for You are impartial and do not regard either the person or the position of anyone.

Example: King David has enemies that catches him when he commits a mistake before GOD.

Psalms 35:21 (Amplified Bible)

Yes, they open their mouths wide against me; they say, Aha! Aha! Our eyes have seen it!

Psalms 35:25 (Amplified Bible)

Let them not say in their hearts, Aha, that is what we wanted! Let them not say, We have swallowed him up and utterly destroyed him.

RESULTS OF LEAVENED:

1. Being bitter

John 7:23 (The Message)

You do this in order to preserve one item in the Law of Moses. So why are you upset with me because I made a man's whole body well on the Sabbath?

Hebrews 12:15 (The Message)

Make sure no one gets left out of God's generosity. Keep a sharp eye out for weeds of bitter discontent. A thistle or two gone to seed can ruin a whole garden in no time.

2. Sour - gloomy and dreary like the hypocrites (leavened)

Matthew 6:16 (Amplified Bible)

And whenever you are fasting, do not look gloomy and sour and dreary like the hypocrites, for they put on a dismal countenance, that their fasting may be apparent to and seen by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full already.

That's why the LORD JESUS CHRIST does not want the sour wine. It's a ridicule, blasphemy and mockings of the leavened (hypocrites/unbelievers) to the LORD. But again, the LORD took all insults that were due us and died with all these insults never again to affect us.

Luke 23:36 (Amplified Bible)

The soldiers also ridiculed and made sport of Him, coming up and offering Him vinegar (a sour wine mixed with water)

John 19:29-30 (Amplified Bible)

A vessel (jar) full of sour wine (vinegar) was placed there, so they put a sponge soaked in the sour wine on [a stalk, reed of] hyssop, and held it to [His] mouth.

When Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, It is finished! And He bowed His head and gave up His spirit.

2 Corinthians 12:9-10 (Amplified Bible)

But He said to me, My grace (My favor and loving-kindness and mercy) is enough for you [sufficient against any danger and enables you to bear the trouble manfully]; for My strength and power are made perfect (fulfilled and completed) and show themselves most effective in [your] weakness. Therefore, I will all the more gladly glory in my weaknesses and infirmities, that the strength and power of Christ (the Messiah) may rest (yes, may pitch a tent over and dwell) upon me!

So for the sake of Christ, I am well pleased and take pleasure in infirmities, insults, hardships, persecutions, perplexities and distresses; for when I am weak [in human strength], then am I [truly] strong (able, powerful in divine strength).

B. In all our lives, eat unleavened bread

"in all your habitations shall ye eat unleavened bread."

What are "unleavened" bread?

1. Purity (nobility, honor), sincerity and unadulterated truth

1 Corinthians 5:8 (Amplified Bible)

Therefore, let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with leaven of vice and malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened [bread] of purity (nobility, honor) and sincerity and [unadulterated] truth.

2. New nature

1 Corinthians 5:7 (Amplified Bible)

Purge (clean out) the old leaven that you may be fresh (new) dough, still uncontaminated [as you are], for Christ, our Passover [Lamb], has been sacrificed.

2 Corinthians 5:7 (Amplified Bible)

For we walk by faith [we regulate our lives and conduct ourselves by our conviction or belief respecting man’s relationship to God and divine things, with trust and holy fervor; thus we walk] not by sight or appearance.

Live holy lives before the LORD whom we pleased.

2 Peter 3:10-11 (Amplified Bible)

But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will vanish (pass away) with a thunderous crash, and the [material] elements [of the universe] will be dissolved with fire, and the earth and the works that are upon it will be burned up.

Since all these things are thus in the process of being dissolved, what kind of person ought [each of] you to be [in the meanwhile] in consecrated and holy behavior and devout and godly qualities,

IX. CONCLUSION:

Praise, worship and thank You very much LORD JESUS for You have made me clean, unspotted, pure, and uncontaminated from the world.
