Summary: His Moral Intervention

His Moral Intervention

v. 6 "All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all."

Note:-

1. All are Sinners - "all we like sheep have gone astray" i.e.

Deceived by sin

Deluded by sin

Disoriented by sin

Doomed by sin -

Like sheep we went astray and broke the fold of God;

each wandering in a different way, but all on the downward road.

We will not return by education, legislatoin, reformation,but only by regeneration

Luke 15 - Prodigal son - "I will arise and go to my father"

Proverbs 14 v. 12 "There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death."

Romans 3 v. 10 - 18 "As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: Their feet are swift to shed blood: Destruction and misery are in their ways: And the way of peace have they not known: There is no fear of God before their eyes."

2. All are Selfish - v. 6 "We have turned everyone to his own way"

Sinners don't agree with this (make a difference between sins and sinners)

World doesn't agree (embraces cultured sinners, rejects the ignorant)

Church doesn't agree (rich and poor sinner)

Romans 3 v. 23 "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" i.e.

why a sinner?

(a) Put his own way before God's way

(b) Put his own will before God's will

(c) Put his own work before God's work

(d) Put his own word before God's word

3. All can be Saved - "And the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all."

How?

Because of:-

(a) Direct Intervention - "The Lord hath laid on him"

(b) Divine Satisfaction - "The Lord" -

John 3 v. 16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

(c) Dynamic Substitution - "The iniquity of us all"

J.F.B. "The innocent was punished as if guilty, that the guilty might be rewarded as if innocent."

Romans 8 v. 3 & 4 "For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit."

Hebrews 7 v. 26 & 27 "For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself."

He suffered in our stead, He saved His people thus;

The curse that fell upon His head was due by right to us,

The storm that bowed His blessed head, is hushed forever now,

And rest Divine is mine instead, while glory crowns His brow.
