II. AUDIENCE PROFILE:

Believers/unbelievers

III. OBJECTIVES:

To show that the LORD JESUS CHRIST is the Compassionate Samaritan that lives within us and He is delighted and pleased more than in our servanthood rather than our greatness.

IV. TEXT:

Luke 10:33 (Amplified Bible)

But a certain Samaritan, as he traveled along, came down to where he was; and when he saw him, he was moved with pity and sympathy [for him],

V. THESIS:

Praise, worship, glorify, adore, bless, honor, acknowledge and thank You very much LORD JESUS for You are Merciful, Sympathetic, Tender, Responsive, and Compassionate for You are all of these and much, much more.

Luke 6:36 (Amplified Bible)

So be merciful (sympathetic, tender, responsive, and compassionate) even as your Father is [all these].

VI. TITLE:

a levite and a victim

VII. EXPLICATION:

A. Author: Dr. Luke, The Beloved Physician (close friend and traveling companion of Paul)

B. Audience: Theophilus (Greek means friend of GOD, a Christian)

C. Purpose: To give a connected and orderly narrative of the life of CHRIST as seen by eyewitnesses

VIII. MAIN BODY:

Luke 10:33 (Amplified Bible)

But a certain Samaritan, as he traveled along, came down to where he was; and when he saw him, he was moved with pity and sympathy [for him],

Luke 10:33 (King James Version)

But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,

A. Certain Samaritan taking his journey

"But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed,"

A Samaritan giving thanks to a Jew.

Luke 17:16-18 (Amplified Bible)

And he fell prostrate at Jesus’ feet, thanking Him [over and over]. And he was a Samaritan.

Then Jesus asked, Were not [all] ten cleansed? Where are the nine?

Was there no one found to return and to recognize and give thanks and praise to God except this alien?

John 4:9 (Amplified Bible)

The Samaritan woman said to Him, How is it that You, being a Jew, ask me, a Samaritan [and a] woman, for a drink?—For the Jews have nothing to do with the Samaritans—

Samaritan doesn't like the Jew and vice-versa

Luke 9:52-53 (Amplified Bible)

And He sent messengers before Him; and they reached and entered a Samaritan village to make [things] ready for Him;

But [the people] would not welcome or receive or accept Him, because His face was [set as if He was] going to Jerusalem.

Samaritan is a an evil word to the Jews.

John 8:48 (Amplified Bible)

The Jews answered Him, Are we not right when we say You are a Samaritan and that You have a demon [that You are under the power of an evil spirit]?

Samaritans are not good in showing compassion but the LORD JESUS CHRIST saw something in them that made Him make Himself as the compassionate or good samaritan. A stranger that will show kindness to any stranger as well.

ILLUSTRATION: I often do this because when the HOLY SPIRIT leads me to share the gospel in a public utility vehicle or in prison or in the hospital, I'll just go ahead and do it for the sake of the LORD JESUS CHRIST and in so doing we are rewarded.

Matthew 25:34-40 (Amplified Bible)

Then the King will say to those at His right hand, Come, you blessed of My Father [you favored of God and appointed to eternal salvation], inherit (receive as your own) the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.

For I was hungry and you gave Me food, I was thirsty and you gave Me something to drink, I was a stranger and you brought Me together with yourselves and welcomed and entertained and lodged Me,

I was naked and you clothed Me, I was sick and you visited Me with help and ministering care, I was in prison and you came to see Me.

Then the just and upright will answer Him, Lord, when did we see You hungry and gave You food, or thirsty and gave You something to drink?

And when did we see You a stranger and welcomed and entertained You, or naked and clothed You?

And when did we see You sick or in prison and came to visit You?

And the King will reply to them, Truly I tell you, in so far as you did it for one of the least [in the estimation of men] of these My brethren, you did it for Me.

B. The Samaritan saw the victim and had compassion on him

"came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,"

Matthew 18:33 (Amplified Bible)

And should you not have had pity and mercy on your fellow attendant, as I had pity and mercy on you?

1 Kings 8:50 (Amplified Bible)

And forgive Your people, who have sinned against You, and all their transgressions against You, and grant them compassion before those who took them captive, that they may have pity and be merciful to them;

Exodus 2:6 (Amplified Bible)

When she opened it, she saw the child; and behold, the baby cried. And she took pity on him and said, This is one of the Hebrews’ children!

Luke 7:13 (Amplified Bible)

And when the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said to her, Do not weep.

ILLUSTRATION: Help strangers along the way, you can meet them anywhere, these faceless people, feed them with the Gospel of Salvation of GOD.

IX. CONCLUSION:

Praise, worship, glorify, adore, bless, honor, acknowledge and thank You very much LORD JESUS for You are Merciful, Sympathetic, Tender, Responsive, and Compassionate for You are all of these and much, much more.
