“Sound the Alarm” Joel 2 :1-2
1. The Day of The Lord is coming no doubt just get ready for it. Sound the Alarm
• Joel says, “2 Blow the trumpet in Zion sound the alarm on my holy hill. Let all who live in the land tremble, for the day of the LORD is coming
• Joel describes that Day as 2 a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and blackness. Like dawn spreading across the mountains a large and mighty army comes, such as never was in ancient times nor ever will be in ages to come.
2. Joel believes the Day of the Lord is upon Israel so He says Sound the Alarm to Return.
• Joel says return to God who says, "Return to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping and with mourning" (v. 12).
• To return to God is to repent -- to turn around and go in a new and opposite direction.
• When we repent, we turn to the path that God has laid out for us,
• so that we are living a life that is different than before.
3. Joel say to Sound the Alarm to Return then he says to Learn about God
• After returning, we learn about the nature of our God, one who is "gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love" (v. 13).
• WE think His coming is bring wrath on people no He is coming to take us out of this mess
4. Joel claims, Return to God in repentance, learn about the Lord's true nature. After that blow the Trumpet and gather as God's people.
• Joel believes a transformed life should be lived in Community "Blow the trumpet in Zion," says Joel; "Sanctify a fast; call a solemn assembly; gather the people. Sanctify the congregation; assemble the aged; gather the children, even infants at the breast" (vv. 15-16).
• We gather to hear Gods word, we gather to pray, we gather to work for Jesus, we gather for encouragement, we gather to share our amazing God.
5. After returning, learning and gathering in community, Joel says sound the Alarm to pray.
• Joel calls for the ministers to pray, "Spare your people, O LORD, and do not make your heritage a mockery, a byword among the nations" (v. 17).
• There Prayer is a prayer of intercession -- asking God to act in the lives of others. In this passage from Joel, the ministers are asking God to save the people, but other prayers of intercession can request healing, strength, peace or help.
• In his first letter to Timothy, Paul says that intercessions should "be made for everyone, for kings and all who are in high positions, so that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and dignity."
• WE intercede because God "desires everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth" (1 Timothy 2:1-4).

Sound the Alarm in our Hearts to Gather as a Community of believers
Sound the Alarm in our Hearts to Pray as intercessory prayers for the other
