Summary: PURITY OF THE HEART SANCTIFIES THE WHOLE BEING

PURE IN HEART

MAIN TEXT: Matthew 5:8

“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God”

“He who has clean hands and a pure heart…shall receive blessing from the Lord…(Psalm 24:4-5)

A pure heart is one that is rid of grudges, rancor, bitterness, hatred, malice, prejudice, jealousy and so on. He sets aside selfish ambition and genuinely seeks the good of others. This is the heart that shall see God. A pure heart is filled with Joy, Love, Peace, Long-suffering, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, Self-Control, and so on. This is a heart that is qualified to inherit the kingdom of God (Gal. 5:21b).

My store serves as “storage” for things that don’t have place in our home, and frankly, there are times when I am ashamed to open the door. I don’t want anyone to see the clutters, I periodically set aside a day to clean it up. Our heart and minds are a lot like that, they accumulate lots of clutter. As we rob shoulders with the world, inevitably, perhaps, unknowingly, we pick up ungodly thoughts and attitudes, demanding our right, reacting bitterly towards those who have hurt us. Before long our hearts and minds become dirty and impure and become repulsive to the indwelling Holy Spirit and as such resisting the message of Apostle Paul in 1 Cor. 6:19; who pointedly asked “Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit”?

Perhaps, it’s time to set aside a spiritual day and with His help clear out the clutter. Discard those thoughts of bitterness. Bag up and throw out the old patterns of sensual thoughts. Fill your heart with beauty of God’s word. Make it clean to the core, and then leave the door open for all to see.

IF THE DOOR OF YOUR HEART IS OPENED TODAY, WILL YOU BE PROUD OF THE CONTENT?
