Summary: The Lord directs our steps so why try to understand everything along the way. We can be assured of the fact that everything works for good

Greetings in the eternal, everlasting name of the Lord, The one who calls you is faithful. In our life we all have many questions, Why this and why not this? But Bible says in Proverbs 20:24

“A man’s steps are of the Lord; how then can a man understand in his own way?”

The Lord directs our steps so why try to understand everything along the way. We can be assured of the fact that everything works for good because Bible says in Romans 8:28

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

Nothing ever happens by accident. God is guiding each one of our steps. One of the best lessons in Bible through which we can see God’s direction in life is Joseph. We are aware of the transformation from the pit to the palace through the Potiphar’s house and prison. Jacob asked Joseph to go to Shechem to visit his brothers, then his brothers threw him into the pit. But if Joseph had been in the same pit and if those Ishmaelites didn’t come all the way to Egypt his dreams could have been shattered. Every step directed by our Lord will take us closer to the vision and the plan He has for our life. He was sold by his brothers and he was taken as a slave to Egypt.

Joseph was sold to Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh and captain of the Guard. If Joseph was sold to someone else in Egypt, he would have lived as a slave all his years. Joseph was carried to prison for the mistake he has not committed and He continued in prison more than 2 years. And so we all knew He was promoted from prison to palace to the highest position. Everything happened in Joseph’s life was not good, but everything worked together for good.

We are not called to worry about our future. Worry fades away when we know for sure our future is secure in His hands. In order to be positioned in places where God has called us to be like Joseph we have to react like Joseph for every situation. Joseph never questioned God for anything. He never saw his self-righteousness. He humbled himself before the Lord. Bible says in 1 Peter 5:6

“Humble yourself, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time.”

Humbling ourselves means, yielding glory to God in all affairs. We could see this while Pharaoh asked Joseph about the dream, he could have considered this as the best opportunity to escape from Egypt but he says in Genesis 41:16

So Joseph answered the Pharaoh saying. “It is not in me; God will give Pharaoh an answer of peace.”

Joseph never judged anyone, even he didn’t choose judgment over his brothers after Jacob died. His brothers asked for his forgiveness in Genesis 50:17-18. Joseph replied (v19)

Joseph said to them, “Do not be afraid, for am I in the place of God?”

He glorified God and humbled himself before God in Potiphar’s house, prison and even in the palace. Circumstances didn’t affect Joseph to stand for what he believes. He chose to believe God, no matter what.

Humbling ourselves, not judging others, not questioning God in all situations is impossible if we try to accomplish it with our own strength. Remember His unconditional love for us in the cross. As John 3:16 says

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life”

Love God unconditionally, that’s what Joseph did whatever may be the situation he honored God, obeyed God. If you love God unconditionally then automatically you tend to honor Him, obey Him in all situations, and enjoy His marvelous plans for your future. No matter what never compromise anything for Jesus. As Psalm 37:23 says

“The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.”

He will delight in every detail of your life as you keep on loving him more and more in all your ways. The almighty God will be for you always no matter what.
