• I am sure it did not go down quite that way.

• Today we are going to examine a word that you may wonder why we would need to know it.

• This word is used 24 times in the Old Testament, so it is not a widely-used word, nonetheless, it is an important word.

• This nondescript word is an important word when we consider how we came to be.

• We are taught that we were an accident that evolved eventually from monkeys to where we are now.

• I am not a scientist, so I will not get into all the science of the topic, I am going to share what the Word says concerning how we got here on this planet.

• The Evolutionist’s themselves have no clue how their theory works because they are having trouble finding evidence of their theory.

• It is also a very curious fact that no one understands how evolution works. Evolutionists commonly protest that they know evolution is true, but they can't seem to determine its mechanism. (http://www.icr.org/article/260/221) Henry M. Morris, Ph.D. 1986. The Vanishing Case for Evolution. Acts & Facts. 15 (6).

• Life had to get its start from something living, the idea of life spontaneously happening with no start from something living does not seem logical.

• As far as I know it takes life to start life.

• Your origin matters, some Christians, because they either do not understand the issue, or they are afraid to be made fun, will try to dodge the issue or come up with some sort of hybrid system by which we arrived.

• Our origins matter because if we are not created, but rather an accident of the cosmos, then how you live your life really does not matter and when we die, we are gone.

• You cannot have us being here by accident and have a God in heaven, you either have one or the other.

• This subject is also pertinent given the fact that our country has no problem with the destruction of life in the womb which one day will lead to us justifying riding ourselves of folks deemed a burden to society.

• Our church supports Carenet and as this passage is unfolded, I hope that you can see why we why we feel strongly about trying to help women keep the child that is in them.

• IF we see that we are created by God, then we should realize we were created for a purpose, a purpose given to us by God.

• Honestly, this is the big hang up for many, the issue accountability for the y they live.

• Today we are going to examine Genesis 2:7. Genesis 2:7 tells us how we got here.

• The word for today is NAY SHA MA(h), it means breath.

• Let’s being with Genesis 2:7 as we build to why this word is so important to the understanding of our origins as well as how this word is important as one ponders where they stand on the when life begins.

• Genesis 2:7 (CSB) Then the Lord God formed the man out of the dust from the ground and breathed the breath of life into his nostrils, and the man became a living being.

SERMON

???????? I. God formed man.

• Then the Lord God formed the man

• This part of verse 7 tells us that GOD formed mankind, mankind did not come from a glob of slop, which eventually turned into a monkey which eventually turned into a person.

• And while this slop was brewing, both male and female evolved at the same rate to allow for procreation, and that the male and female accidentally formed the parts to allow for procreation.

• WOW, all be accident!

• The word FORMED means to FASHION, to form in the mind, much like a potter with a vision for what to do with the clay.

• The word is used of a potter or woodcarver forming their medium into something.

• The word translated FORMED is occasionally used for human activity, bit more often it is used in reference to God forming things.

• In Isaiah 43:7 says that everyone the Lord formed, were done so for His glory.

• Isaiah 43:21 says that the people the Lord formed will declare His praise!

• This word tells that we were created in the mind of God, then He went to work.

• He did not find our lifeless bodies lying on the ground and then said, hey, WAKE up!

• In Genesis 1:26-28 the word used for CREATE, this verb is used only for creative acts of God. The difference is subtle, but the word in Genesis 1:26-28

• SLIDE #4

• Genesis 1:26–28 (CSB) — 26 Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness. They will rule the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, the livestock, the whole earth, and the creatures that crawl on the earth.” 27 So God created man in his own image; he created him in the image of God; he created them male and female. 28 God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth, and subdue it. Rule the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, and every creature that crawls on the earth.”

• The word CREATE, means to create, to form by cutting.

• This verb is used only of creative acts performed by God. It appears five times in the creation narrative of Gen 1–2: God created the heavens and the earth (Gen 1:1; 2:4), the creatures of the sea (Gen 1:21), humankind in his image (Gen 1:27), and creation as a whole (Gen 2:3).

• SLIDE #5

• Psalm 139:13–14 (CSB) For it was you who created my inward parts; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I will praise you because I have been remarkably and wondrously made. Your works are wondrous, and I know this very well.

• You were not an accident, you were made by God!

• That child in the womb was created by God! We really do not have the right to destroy that life!

• Let’s continue with verse 7

• SLIDE #6

• Genesis 2:7 (CSB) Then the Lord God formed the man out of the dust from the ground and breathed the breath of life into his nostrils, and the man became a living being.

• SLIDE #7

???????? II. God formed man from the dust of the ground.

• Where did we come from? What are we made of? The Bible tells us that God formed the man out of the dust from the ground.

• The word translated DUST is not the word for a clod of earth, but rather the finest part of the material from the earth!

• When you examine the composition of the human body, you will see it is actually made up of the elements of the earth.

• Your body is made up of 65% Oxygen, 18% Carbon, 10% Hydrogen, 3% Nitrogen, 1.5% Calcium, 1% Phosphorus, .35% Potassium, .25% Sulfur, .15% Sodium, .15% Chlorine, .05% Magnesium, .0004% Iron and .00004% Iodine.

• Your body contains trace amounts of other elements such as silicon (More if you are in Hollywood), manganese, fluorine, copper, zinc, arsenic, and aluminum.

• What is the going rate for these precious elements? According to THOUGHTCO.COM, $1!

• Now God took all those worthless elements and formed them into your priceless self!

• We are made of the same things that the earth consists of!

• God created man on the 6th day of creation, man was created after the earth, so God used the earth to create mankind.

• Now that you have a man, what comes next? This is where our word for the day comes into play.

• SLIDE #8

• Genesis 2:7 (CSB) Then the Lord God formed the man out of the dust from the ground and breathed the breath of life into his nostrils, and the man became a living being.

• SLIDE #9

???????? III. God breathed His own breath of life into man.

• NAY SHA MA(h)

• The word translated BREATH.

• This word is used 24 times in the Old Testament, 18 it is translated BREATH.

• How did we receive LIFE? In Frankenstein movies, they used a bunch of electricity.

• God simply breath His breath into Adam to bring life to him.

• Life comes from life, from my limited understanding of cloning, you cannot clone dead cells.

• I was watching a program Expedition Unknown were folks were trying to harvest Mammoth tusks to harvest DNA so they could re-create the Mammoth. These mammoth bones were encased in glaciers so the hope was the scientists could find some viable DNA to clone; however, to this point no luck.

• When a cell dies, it degrades, when it is alive, it constantly repairing itself.

• Trying to extract strands of viable DNA from dead cells is like trying to read a book that has been submerged under water for a long time.

• The long it is under water, the more degraded the text.

• We have life because God breathed it into us.

• Life begets life.

• To my knowledge, science cannot take a dead person and bring them to life. Once the life has left them, they are gone.

• I am not talking about someone who comes back within a few minutes, but someone who has been dead for a long time.

• We are here because of NAY SHA MA(h), the breath of God.

• That blessing gets passed on to each person who is conceived.

• Carenet exists to try to help women who were in a desperate situation to choose life for their unborn son or daughter.

• What is in them is a life, the choice comes when one chooses to engage in activity that causes a child to be conceived, the child is the result, not the choice.

• Before you come to me and ask about the TERRIBLE issue of rape and incest, less than 1% of abortions in the US from rape and incest.

• SLIDE #10

• I would sign a bill to save 99% of those aborted if people insist on that exception.

CONCLUSION

• Why is life precious?

• Well, if we are an accident of nature, it really isn’t. Why would it be? We would live and die, and that is all.

• We would be here for no higher calling or higher purpose, we would simply exist.

• What is the difference between a stray pet with no family and your precious family pet?

• Someone to love them, that animal just exists and becomes a nuisance. Something you call animal control to take away.

• You see, life is precious because God gave it to us, He gave it to us for a reason, life has more meaning than living, buying stuff and dying.

• No matter what, you are not a stray animal, you are a human being loved by God, who can be saved by Jesus, and who has a SPECIAL calling in life By God!

• NAY SHA MA(h), the breath of God, gave us life, NAY SHA MA(h), the breath of God is why we are special in His sight.

• The question is are we going to live a life that wastes NAY SHA MA(h), or will you take life by the grace of God, and live it to the fullest for His glory?
