WHAT JUDAS MISSED-V—John 13:31–14:11(John 13:18--17:26)

Nuns in the Country(Missing out)
Two nuns were driving down a country road when they ran out of gas.
They walked to a farmhouse the farmer had gasoline but it could only be pumped out of a huge barrel directly into a vehicle or a smaller container. The only other small container the farmer had was an old bedpan.
The nuns were happy to take whatever they were offered & returned to their car with the bedpan full of gasoline.
As they were pouring the gasoline from the bedpan into the tank of their car, 2 locals drove by. Seeing the nuns pouring the gas in, they punched each other & said, ‘Man I wish I had their faith!’
The passing motorists ‘missed out’ on the truth!
*Judas missed the entirety of Jesus’ teaching which took place from the time of his prematurely leaving their gathering(13:30) until he arrived in the Garden of Gethsemane, with the detachment of soldiers, chief priests & Pharisees to arrest Jesus!(18:3; Mat. 27:27)—[Roman cohort(speira—the tenth part of a legion=600 soldiers)]
Need:
God’s People Practice...
*Gathering with the Church!
*Allowing God to use them despite their faults!
*Follow God’s plain direction for them!
*Are an encouragement to others!
*Fulfill their God-appointments!
...In doing so, they will never miss out on something vital & life-changing for themselves, their spouses, their children, & others!
We have found that Judas Missed vital life lessons because of his unbelieving attitude AND as a result, Judas Missed life lessons because of his physical absence...

Again, a new commandment I write to you, which thing is true in Him & in you, because the darkness is passing away, & the true light is already shining. He who says he is in the light, & hates his brother, is in darkness until now. He who loves his brother abides in the light, & there is no cause for stumbling in him. But he who hates his brother is in darkness & walks in darkness, & does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.”
Prov. 10:12—“Hatred stirs up strife, But love covers all sins.”
1Pet. 4:7-10—“But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious & watchful in your prayers. And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.” Be hospitable to one another without grumbling. As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.”
Php. 2:1-5, 6-8ff.—“Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection & mercy, fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Judas missed...The TELLING EXAMPLE & APPLICATION Of GOD’S LOVE.
1Cor. 13:1-3—“Though I speak with the tongues of men & of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, & understand all mysteries & all knowledge, & though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, & though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.”
Jn. 17:20-22—“I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, & I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one:”
1Jn. 2:4-6—“He who says, “I know Him,” & does not keep His commandments, is a liar, & the truth is not in him. But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.”

Judas missed...His OPPORTUNITY For LIFESTYLE WITNESS.
Php. 2:12-13—“Therefore, my beloved[the church], as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear & trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will & to do for His good pleasure.”
The working out of your salvation will be unique to you, however it will always be within the confines of God’s revealed word, as it fulfills God’s objective truth.
Judas missed...The WITNESSING POWER Of LIVING OUT GOD’s LOVE.
2Cor. 4:8-11—“We are hard pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed-- always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus’ sake, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh.”
Gal. 2:20—“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; & the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me & gave Himself for me.”
*If God’s love is missing from the equation of our Christian life, then anything we may do for the church & for the kingdom becomes suspect & accomplishes nothing that honors God! Rather it will only accomplish that which honors Men/Self/The world/Flesh/The devil!
...Without your expression of God’s love toward your brothers & sisters in Christ, then you are no disciple of His! The body of Christ is NOT discernible in you!
*Such an absence also robs others of God’s love because they can find what you offer them on TV, in books, at work, & in the bar.
Love is imperative among His people to fill the gap in the wake of Jesus impending physical absence!
