Summary: A sermon on the character of Joseph.

THE MAN GOD CHOSE TO RAISE HIS SON

Matthew 1:18-25

So very little is known about Joseph.

What we do know is a good example to the men of our day.

I. TAXPAYER - Luke 2:1-5

(this automatically puts him in with the "common man")

II. PURE - Matt. 1:18

(even though they were "in love" and espoused to be married)

III. JUST - Matt. 1:19

(a man of OVERALL integrity)

IV. SENSITIVE - Matt. 1:19

(not a word we like to apply to men - but the point is that he did not have to be CRUEL to prove his manhood)

V. LEVEL-HEADED - Matt. 1:20

(did not "react" to situations, but took the time to "think" about what should be done)

VI. SPIRITUAL - Matt. 1:20, 2:13

(a man who was in touch with his God)

VII. OBEDIENT - Matt. 1:24,25; 2:13,14

(a man that obeyed the instructions of his God)
