Summary: This sermon will be to show that Christ's birth and life was foretold about in many prophecies in the Old Testament; just as Christ's life was written about and had a plan we can know that ours does, too.

Scripture Reading-Jeremiah 23:3-8-

Intro: There are many prophecies in the Old Testament regarding the Christ. This week we'll be looking at three that concern his birth and early childhood.

I. The prophecy of the Virgin Birth

Anchor verse: Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.

Isaiah had many prophecies describing the Messiah. This one deals with his mother Mary's virgin birth.

II. The prophecy of Bethlehem

Anchor verse: Micah 5:2 But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel

In this verse we see a clear statement that the Christ will be born in Bethlehem.

III. The prophecy of the flight to Egypt

Anchor verse: Hosea 11:1 When Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called my son.

Like many Old Testament prophecies regarding the Messiah, this one in Hosea about the flight to Egypt has a dual meaning, a meaning for the time it was spoken and a prophecy itself.
