Bring down the Wall of Jehrico.

Joshua 6:20 So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.

I. Introduction:

A. There comes a time in everyone’s life when one is faced with what seems like an impossible task or situation.

1. Taking a new position on the Job.

2. Meeting a finical need.

3. Recovering from a deadly illness.

4. Rebuilding a relationship.

5. Reaching a Goal

6. Starting a Business

7. Striving for a closer walk with God.

B. All these things could be exhausting situations, all these things could be impossible tasks. They can at times seem as a great wall or obstacle to overcome or to get around in your life in you life. They could be Jerichos in your Life.

II When a Jericho comes in my life.

A. I search for deliverance in the bible.

a. What the Bible says.

1.1 Romans 15:4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

1.2 1 Corinthians 10:11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, (Cautionary advice) upon whom the ends of the world are come.

B. In the book of Joshua there is an example of how to overcome your most difficult problems, how to bring down the walls of your Jericho.

IV A look at the example.

A. Joshua’s background.

a. Dwelled in the presence of the Lord with Moses.

b. Was given charge and command of the nation of Israel

c. Was to lead the nation into Canaan and conquer the promise land.

B. In fulfilling his mission Joshua demonstrates 6 steps he took to bring down the walls of Jericho. He gives an excellent example of how to bring down the wall of your Jericho.

V. The Demonstrations

1. Chap 5: 13-15 recognizes who the Lord is and Submit.

a. Why is Joshua out by Jericho?

(1) The promise the Lord gave to Joshua.

1.5 The necessities of life

1.6 Deliverance from enemies

1.8 Answers to prayers according to your faith

1.9 He would never leave you nor forsake you.

3. Chap. 6: 6 – 7 Follow the Lords instructions and Obey

A. The promise God gave to Joshua would only be fulfilled if they followed and obeyed the word of God.

a. compass the city once a day for six days.

1.5 The procession was to be lead by the men of war

1.6 Followed by seven priest

1.7 Bearing seven trumpets of Rams Horns

1.8 Followed by the Ark of the Covenant

b. On the seventh day

1.1 compass the city seven times

1.2 The Priest will blow

1.3 The people will shout

1.4 The walls shall come tumbling down.

B. The promises of God will only be fulfilled in you life if you follow and obey the word of God.

1.1 Matt. 18:3 Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

1.2 John 15:7 7: If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

1.3 1 John 1:7 7: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

1.4 John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

4. Chap. 6: 8 - 10 Hear and follow the instructions of you leader.

A. Instruction added by Joshua as a leader of Gods people.

1.1 rearward followed the Ark

1.2 The people could not make any noise with their voice until he told them they could.

1.3 He cursed the City of Jericho v-17

1.4 He told them in V-18 to keep themselves from the accursed things.

1.5 V-19 To consecrate all the silver, gold, vessels of brass and iron to God.

1.6 The Lord didn’t mention any of these things in v-2-5

B. The importance of obeying your leader.

a. Hebrews 13:17 Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.

5. Chap. 6: 16 Give Praise before the Victory

A. The nation of Israel Shouted before the victory.

1.1 James 1:2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;

1.2 Ephesians 5: 19-20 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

1.3 Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

6. Chap. 6: 20 Receive results.

a. Joshua’s reward for having faith in the Lord and following his command was the destruction of Jericho and victory for Israel.

b. Our reward for having faith in the Lord and following his command is also victory.

1.1 Romans 8:37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

1.2 Death and receive eternal life in Heaven.

1.3 1st Corinthians 15:54-57 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

1.4 Romans 8:31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

7. Chap. 6: 22-23 Keep your Vows .

A. Keep your Vow to the Lord

1.1 Ecclesiastes 5:2 Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few.

B. Keep your Vow to one another.

1.1 Matt 5:33 If you swear, then keep your word before God.

1.2 Matt 5:34 says do not bind yourselves with an oath, because you can’t control or determine what will happen in the feature.
