What does it mean to be a Christian?

Matt 16:24 - 27

I - What does to mean to be a Christian?

A - To love God?

1 - many profess such

2 - their actions will either prove or deny this claim

John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

B - To believe?

1 - again many profess such

2 - there actions don’t show true belief

I Jn 2:3-4 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.

He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in

him.

C - To know the Word?

2 Tim 4:3-4 Many know it and do not obey it

D - To be born again?..... Good question

Those born again were called Christians because people must have seen a Christ likeness.

Acts 11:26 And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that

a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the

disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.

II - It means to pattern our lives after Jesus’

A - Abide in Christ and bear fruit

John 15:1-6 5

This not a suggestion it is a command

B - Keep His commands

REMEMBER - I Jn 2:3-4 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.

He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in

him.

1 - you must learn them to keep them

2 - you must learn to teach them!

C - Evangelize the world
