Summary: Jesus Christ is the one and only way to heaven.

Title: “Jesus Christ The Way”

Scripture: John 14:5-14

Introduction:

Today many say that it does not matter what you believe as long as you are sincere. They say that all religions have some good in them and they all lead to heaven at last. But Jesus said, “No one comes to the Father except through me.”

The way to God is not by the Ten Commandments, the Golden Rule, ordinances, or church membership—it is through Jesus Christ and Him alone. He does not merely show the way; He is the way.

I. THE WAY TO PARDON

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)

A. Because of Adam’s fall, all mankind is marred by sin

1. Each becomes accountable for his own sins

2. All become responsible for their

personal transgressions

B. To be released from the guilt of sin, one

must receive pardon

1. No kings can forgive the sins of man

2. No presidents can excuse the iniquities of man

3. No angels can condone the offenses of man

C. Jesus Christ paid for our sins by His death on

the cross and alone is the way to pardon for

all who repent and believe (Colossians 1:14)

II. THE WAY TO PURITY

“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.”

(1 John 1:7)

A. Many Christians fail to completely surrender their lives to Jesus Christ, but hold back some portion for themselves

B. Only as we yield to Jesus Christ in total commitment can we be cleansed from all sin and filled with His divine love

C. Jesus Christ is the way to purity of the heart; He shed His blood so we could be reconciled to God

(1 John 1:9)

III. THE WAY TO PEACE

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

(John 14:27)

A. There is less peace today than ever before because our world is filled with so much hatred, strife, self-seeking, separation, and divorce

B. Millions are searching for peace through self-effort, education, psychology, and the accumulation of material possessions

C. Jesus Christ is the only way to lasting peace—real peace

1. When we turn our lives over to Him in

total commitment He takes over

the responsibility

2. When we completely entrust ourselves to Him,

He gives us peace (Philippians 4:7)

Illustration:

A person whose cancer has been arrested may say, “I am so thankful to God.” That is praise. But a person who is dying of cancer and in pain may calmly say, “Everything is all right. The Lord does not make mistakes. I have peace in my heart.” That is “the peace that passes all understanding.”

IV. THE WAY TO POWER

“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” (Philippians 4:13)

A. Men and nations seek power to dominate and destroy one another

B. Christians seek power to assist the less fortunate and bring the lost to the saving knowledge of Christ

C. Jesus Christ is the way to power

1. His Holy Spirit empowers consecrated

Christians to do God’s work (Acts 1:8)

2. His Holy Spirit enables devoted Christians

to accomplish God’s will

Conclusion:

Jesus does not just teach the way or show the way, He is the way. His statement, “No man cometh unto the Father but by me,” removes any other possible way to heaven. Jesus is the only way!
